I'm looking for some rear shocks for my dad's 98 Tacoma Prerunner 2.7l extended cab. He does a lot of heavy hauling with his 4 cylinder truck so it sags/ bottoms out.
I can't seem to find anything anywhere that will fit his Taco. Just looking to find some rear load leveling shocks for him, the ones with the springs. Any help is very much appreciated.

    4 run, 2 don't
Shocks only dampen a vehicle's ride

The leaf pack is what supports a vehicle's weight

You may want to look into air bags, unless he's hauling often, then you could just get a new leaf pack with the ability to carry a heavier payload

Those are gone with the Dodo, I havent seen load leveling shocks in 15 years.

Firestone Airbags are the best option now.

He's trying to keep it low cost. If it isn't too much then he'll possibly consider it.
My boss has a 99 Taco and installed some Monroe 58567 shocks and when he hauls heavy loads he says it doesn't sag.
My dad wants to try some spring loaded shocks first. Thanks for the advice.

    For $100 I’d give them a try.

Second I would do air bags, but that’s about a $300 investment.

After that I would do new springs.

I put some Gabriel's on my Tacoma back when I used it in a similar way to your father.

Pumping up the rear with air shocks – ADVENTURETACO

The only two brands that still manufacture air shocks - that I know of - are Monroe and Gabriel. They don't make any specifically for our trucks, but if you figure out the compressed and extended lengths of thatever your dad has on there now, you can find something in a similar range with the appropriate bushings on each end and install those. Worked well for me for many years.

Essentially, these are the specs you want, from Gabriel's web site:

The other option - as @Bishop84 mentioned - are Firestone airbags. Something along the lines of:

    https://amzn.to/3flfZWe - airbag kit
    https://amzn.to/2RV9dOM - airbag cradle

If I were to do it again, I'd go with the air bags rather than air shocks.

Thanks for the very informative response turbodb. I can't seem to find anything along the lines of what my dad wants. I'll definitely show him both of these options. I'm thinking air bags might be best. I hope he agrees.
