Didn’t realize the factory breather is only 18” above ground. I know I’ve gone close to that deep a couple times crossing water on some off road trails. Don’t want to damage anything when I can do this cheap mod to prevent any issues.

Found the link below while I was checking out another article on that website. Anybody got any advice or other links they can provide to help accomplish getting the breather relocated to a higher area? Definitely want to get this done sooner than later.

You can put it in the storage next to the AC outlet in the bed. There's even a drain hole to run the breather hose through.

Not mine, but here's a pic. The ARB is open or you can get an small aquarium filter and put one on the end of the hose for the cheap route. I'm not a of the stock one in the diff.

That's where I put it on my 2nd Gen. Works great and well-shielded from even puddle splashes. I drilled a separate hole though to keep the drain hole free.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
There have been several threads on this. Routed mine to left tail light are. Disassembled oem one way valve and made it into two way breather which sits at the end if the hose in taillight compartment.

So far so good after few thousand miles and no mystical leaks from diff after doing this mod...

Behind a taillight seems like by far the best solution. I don't know why you'd drill into the area by the gas cap or the storage cubby when you can go this way without cutting or drilling.

When I do this that's where I'll go as well.

I wouldn't do it behind the tail light, unless my truck is missing a big grommet, there is a gaping hole on the bottom of the housing where all the wiring goes through is. The cubby is a better sealed choice. Though the best choice is in the cab. I've seen some in the storage areas under/behind the backseats.

    2" front and rear.
I just put a brass bulkhead in the cowl inside the fuel door. I used brass fitting and 3/8" air brake tubing. My 2011 had a leaking wheel seal due to the vent being plugged. Behind the tail light just means you have to remove the light to get at the vent. After my wheel seal leak, I just give the "hat" on the vent a spin whenever I get fuel to make sure it isn't plugged. No issues since.

As for in the cab, I'd be worried about smelling gear oil from time to time.
