I posed this question to a buddy/fellow tacoma guy, and he had some good points.
So i thought if post it here and everyone with an asshole and an opinion can chime in. Before i drop 3k on a bumper, im thinking, i wont be able to haul shit in the bed with the tailgate drown....And, i dont plan on doing any super crazy shit where ill need my fenders cut in back to necessitate a high clearance bumper. Maybe just a hitch mounted tire carrier and gas can holder would do the trick for me. But even those are astronomical ive been seeing.
Dont want the tire under the truck, and have a super pacific camper coming. The camper wont hinder my hauling needs.

So, what else to consider that maybe I havent? Anyone w a swing out get annoyed with it sometimes? My old trail rig was an suv, so it made no difference to me.
I have the money to spend on either, but its a, do you really need it sort of thing....
    Decisions decisions....

What did you end up concluding?

I also have a SP. Already have a CBI high clearance bumper that didn’t require chopping bedsides, but I’m finding it difficult to find any hitch carrier options that work with the relocated higher hitch

Having a big debate in my head if I want to drop $3k plus for another bumper that requires cutting and has the swingout full time.

I have 35s so they don’t fit in stock location..

C4 fabrications front, and rear bumper with tire swing out, sliders, skids, and otf kit. Running 35 km3, with stealth custom series ray 10’s. OME bp-51 lift Spc uca’s. Retrax one xr with uptop bed rack, front runner roof rack and 23 zero armadillo rtt.
I have the C4 high clearance rear bumper. I love it. With that being said the only negative is that I can’t put some items in the bed if my truck, but I can still tow my boat no problem. I’d do it again for sure … hope you found a solution. You can also check out the hitch mounted tire carriers out there.

Yeah I’m leaning to the C4 if I do end up going that direction. Just hurts that I already dropped the money on the CBI bumper, just never thought I’d go bigger than a 33”.

Any regrets living with the swingout and having to move it every time to drop the tailgate? Or issues with opening it in parking lots/parking garages?

No issues for me. It’s become a habit and I don’t think about it usually. Been super easy to operate. Don’t let it swing open freely though. I had to replace the shock and locking mechanism. Other than that I love it. Plus still being able to tow is a huge bonus for me.

    Built my own for 600.
And, can remove it easily. Using a SSO rear bumper. I wanted the hitch up and out of the way.

Hilarious, all these 3 year old threads being resurected.
