Rear Bearing Gear... Manual Transmission trouble

    Does anyone know where I can locate this part? I'm in the middle of rebuilding a r a60 2005 Tacoma Tacoma V6 Manual transmission. I believe it is called the rear bearing gear and I need this in order to complete the rebuild

    Why replace a gear? Gears are not usually wear items, as opposed to synchros, etc.
    Why not re-use the original one?

    Gears are usually expensive, at least with other cars, to the tune of around $200 per gear
    Hopefully Toyota has an OEM parts catalog that breaks down the transmission into pieces that show part numbers to order components individually

    That is multiple parts, not a gear assembly.

    33321. From that link of yours except "view other images" and choose image 3. My guess.

    I believe that part has been superseded to a different gear assembly altogether and may be why the OP cant find that actual part number anymore . These transmissions have had many internal parts upgraded over the years .
    I believe the cone clutch for the synchronizer is also part of the gear assembly . If he had a harsh shift into 6th gear , the complete gear with those dog teeth ( cone clutch ) would need to be replaced

    OP, what you are showing is actually the output shaft and 5th gear along with an integrated syncro for 5th. It does not look like an output shaft because the threaded part with the notches engages in the transfer case drive differently than what you might expect to see on a 2WD that actually has a splined shaft.

    That whole thing is an assembly and can not be taken apart with the exception of the tapered roller bearing you show.

    Let me offer some advise to you about the bearing(s). That bearing on the output shaft rides in a race pressed in the rear case; there is then a second tapered roller bearing and race opposite it just below the crush sleeve. Together they serve to set the output shaft in a proper position but are set with a slight bearing pre-load near the end of assembly using the big nut to tighten against the crush sleeve (called the spacer) which in turn pushes against the second roller bearing.

    I replace both bearings because it has been my experience that that area in the rear of the RA60 collects junk and it has no where to go so those bearings take a beating.

    Make sure you get a couple of crush sleeves as they are a one-shot deal and can not be reused. An extra nut would not hurt either a you have to stake the thing and they can get a bit mangled.

    As was said, it's the output shaft. The gear is actually the output reduction gear from the countershaft, and so the teeth only see forces in any gear except 5th. That said, 5th gear is simply when the input shaft is directly connected with the output shaft, and so the synchro and dog teeth on the output shaft are for 5th gear.

    Here are the part numbers:

    90364-33012 - Bearing, Input Shaft to Output Shaft
    35469-35030 - Spacer, Output Shaft Bearings (Crush Sleeve for Bearing Preload)

    Any updates on this? Since the worn bearing that rides in there also rides directly on the tail of the input shaft, the input shaft may need replacement, too. 2WD transmissions have a better oil supply into this area via a little oil receiver/paddle scoop that forces more oil into the center of the shaft. As more of these need rebuilding, we can surely produce some upgrades that will prevent failures like this.
