I wouldn't use any wrecking yard that's outside of driving distance from your location.

Use http://car-part.com/ to find out which wrecking yards, close to you, have the part you need.

    Why?

If you pay with a credit card or with PayPal there are protections for the buyer in place. I've never had a problem and have found great deals that way. eBay and Amazon used are both basically the same as buying from a long distance salvage yard.

Body parts don’t survive shipping and for other parts, the wrecking yards will always say they’re in great condition when they are bent or have broken tabs. If I’m buying parts off a wrecked truck, I wanna see them with my own eyes before I pay for them.

That's probably why I got a Wagoneer front axle in perfect condition for $165 (buyers not wanting to buy used parts without being able to see them in person), but if it wasn't in perfect condition as promised I could have filed a claim and got every penny back. I just don't see any issues with long distance used parts purchases.
