I'm thinking of selling or trading my 2011 Tacoma. I see some crazy prices on the internet, and on this forum for used Tacoma's. I see people on here who have paid what I consider to be terribly high prices for a used Tacoma. I've heard of people getting nearly what they paid for these trucks, and that regular cab, 4x4, 5spd manuals are in high demand. Is there any truth to this?

I've checked KBB, and NADA, but seriously, what should I get for this truck if I sell it myself.
It's a 2011, 4x4, regular cab, 2.7l 4 cyl, 5 spd manual, base model. Does have sliding rear window.
18,000 miles, and has been well maintained, and is in very good condition, no wrecks, or other problems. Windshield, and headlights have been replaced due to cracks, and fading.

I have been casually looking at Tacomas for sale (in SoCal).
The TRD OR 4x4 V6 is the most popular and I don't see many 4x4 single cabs.

I don't think you would sell it fast at 20k but Im sure someone is out there looking for that exact truck that would pay top dollar. You just have to wait for the right buyer.

2011 with 18k I would think $16-18kThe 2.7 is a good motor but if it had the 4.0 I would definitely say the higher end

$15-$20 if someone was willing to pay that much or more if more people are willing to pay that much.

It’s got low mileage so that’s a huge plus.
    You’ve got the maintenance records.

I’d take the average of what KBB and NADA are telling you and add whatever premium you want if it’s in that good of condition. Keep the average as your bottom line..
    See what happens.
Post it here, see what happens.

Alternatively, bring it to a dealer and see what they would give you for it- outright and in trade. You might be surprised.

    Why sell?

It’s only worth what any given person is willing to pay for. If that 20k today great but could be 15k next week. Location and demand drive prices, which the market sets not the seller.

I should have said this in the first post. I am the original owner. The frame is in good shape. I don't normally drive it to work, so it's seldom driven in bad weather when there is salt on the roads.
the 18,000 miles is actual, nothing has ever happened with the odometer.

The comments about the regular cab are a bit puzzling to me. I've seen on the internet that the off road crowd are looking for reg cab with 5 spd manual, and paying top dollar. That could be
untrue for sure. That's why I asked on here, I know there are plenty on here with that knowledge. I know nothing about what is really in demand, especially in the off road realm. I don't, and
have not ever done much off road stuff. I realize that location is a big factor, what's in demand here, may be near worthless in another area, and prices vary accordingly, and by location even
if demand is the same. I know farmers from here who buy machinery in Pennsylvania because they save 25% to 35%, and more, over local dealers. I know a large local landscaping company
that buys all their trucks from a big dealer in northern va. I asked one of the owners about it, and he said trying to buy around here local was a joke. That's all he would say, I take it that he didn't
want to bad mouth other local businesses. That must not apply to Toyota dealers, somebody I worked with had family in NoVa, and visited them over a holiday, and shopped dealers there. They
came back here and bought their vehicle local for the same price, so go figure. Yet I know another guy who bought his Ford up there, and I can't believe the deal he got, so???

As for why I'm considering selling my truck? One, if I can really get back most of what I have in, why would I not do that? Assuming that no more production of reg cabs, or manual 5 spd with
the 4cyl actually have increased demand, and that's what I'm trying to find out. Two, I'm very tired of the manual transmission, it's fine riding up in the mountains, or on back roads. I hate to
drive it into the city, or in any stop/start traffic conditions. I'm getting older, and this area is getting more urban, and heavier traffic by the day. Three, I'm concerned about the frame rust in
the future, and that secondary air injection system failing. As to why I didn't get the auto trans to begin with, the 4cyl with the old 4spd A340, just plain sucked, couldn't get out of it's own way.
I wasn't going to pay several thousand more for the v6, that pricing is just totally ridiculous, and still is...

As for a replacement, I don't know yet. I've considered a Camry TRD, the 4cyl in the Camry is dog, and only the TRD has it as an affordable option. I would consider another Tacoma IF the rust, and
smog pump issues are solved, but how can I know? I thought the rust was over after the lawsuit fiasco. I've also considered an F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost, but I'll have to look one over very
closely, and drive one. The F150 is an unknown to me, I basically know what the Tacoma is like, not much has changed. I don't even know if I'd get 4x4 or not, don't really need it.

What is the 2tr-fe like with the new 6spd auto? I know, I'll have to drive one, just asking. I doubt I would pay the money for the v6, I can get the Camry, or F150 for that price. I'm very tired of not
being able to get out in traffic, or sneaking up to pass even slow moving cars. I do know the F150 has a good power to weight ratio, on paper. Much better than the Tacoma, or ever a Tundra.

Just asking for a bit of insight before I do something stupid. I am going to check dealers for what the will do on a trade, but in the past, NADA or KBB were about right on that part. I just don't
know if the rumors about extra high values on this truck in a private sale are true. Knowing my luck, probably not...

Good luck but I can't imagine $15K for a 2011 model, reg. cab, even at 18K mi. & I'm a reg. cab nut. Reg. cabs are mostly base models, no pwr. window, locks, cruise, back up camera, no TRD models in reg. cab (not sure, may have been in 2011). The reg. cabs are more rare, because they're not made anymore. Reason production stopped was because most folks don't want them, thus weak sales. I have a 2013 Taco reg. cab 2.7, 4X4, auto. & it is a dog, a weak dog, looking at re-gearing to maybe help it a little. i'm in TN. & I sure can't imagine the 2011 fetching $15K, but good luck, I'm on your side.

We had a 2.7 Ecoboost f150 and I loved it. If I'm ever in the market for a full size again, I'll look for one again.

There definitely are people looking for standard cab models but there are more people looking for the other models. All Tacoma's are sought after. It also would depend on how patient you are with the sale and how well and where you market it. The low mileage, 4WD, and its history are huge selling points. I personally would start in the low 20's but I'm very patient when it comes to selling a vehicle, I've sold at least 100 vehicles on a private party level.

Btw OP, I never list a vehicle for sale on a forum. There are far too many uniformed buyers reading uninformed opinions and you'll lose potential buyers that way. Keep your listing 100% positive, if there are any negatives to the vehicle you can discuss that with a potential buyer in person. Since your truck is a 4WD, make a video of that system working (drive it up a hill or in a little mud) and you'll gain more interest from buyers in the vehicle. Videos sell vehicles better than descriptions and/or pictures. Keep the listing relatively short as people's attention spans are short these days.

Thanks for all the info so far.

I'm not going to actually list my truck for sale on a forum. I don't know for sure if I'm going to sell it. Just trying to get a feel for the real world value from those who know a lot more about this
    than I do.

Those saying $15,000 to $16,000 are about in the ballpark with KBB & NADA for a private sale. If I could get that on a trade I'd certainly take it. I hope for better private, but I have doubts.

I have to go look at, and drive a V6 Camry, F150, and a couple of Tacoma's with auto transmission. That's what I have it narrowed down too. I'm especially concerned with the degree of
difficulty of maintenance on any of the V6's, they look shoe horned into the engine bay. If I can't work on it, I won't buy it...

I do understand that most people don't want reg cab, or a manual trans. There aren't many access cab Tacoma's around either from my looking around the area dealer websites, not even bigger
dealers in NoVa. Very few reg cab F150 with Ecoboost either. Mostly all double cabs. A few reg cabs with the base 3.3V6, which I don't want. I just want to drive one, I know I'll have to order to get
what I want. I will not buy an access cab in a full size, too big, to expensive, and too heavy. I do want a base model, I don't need all the fancy electrical stuff. I do want the 3.73 axle ration in the F150,
and the 2.7 Ecoboost. I do not understand why vehicles keep getting bigger and bigger, it's ridiculous. I also don't understand the over geared, under powered drive trains, and why any decent
options that aren't, are nearly unaffordable to a working class guy like me. It just plain sucks!
