In the maintenance log, this pops up every 5K miles.

    "Re-torque propeller shaft bolt"

Few questions I need help with:

    1. What does this mean?
    2. How do I do it and where is it located?
    3. How tight do i have to torque it?

    Thank you for any help.

The propeller shaft is also known as the drive shaft.
There will be a front and a rear drive shaft on a 4x4 and only a rear driveshaft on a prerunner. They connect the transmission/ transfercase to the differentials.
They used to come from the factory with a thread locker on those bolts.
Not sure why they would not use that anymore and make it part of maintenance to re-torque them.
Follow torque specs per the FSM.

Is there a place I can get a PDF copy of the FSM? Free would be preferable, but I don't mind paying for it....should come into good use overtime.

    Thanks.

X2 with getting the torque wrench to get it there. I just tighten my as tight as I could, test drove it and make sure it didn't come loose upon returning from test drive.

If you use a crows foot ake sure you are 90 degrees from parallel. so you are putting the correct torque on them.

It was a listed maintenance Item on my 1980 4X4 Toyota Truck and my 1982 FJ Landcruiser... It has been a requirement as long as I can remember, and I'm a lot older...

There's a spinning torque couple on the bolts from driveshaft motion. Not much you can do besides tightening them periodically, unless you go with LH threaded bolts.

These are Cornwell. You can get Proto from Sears, or perhaps other sources.
