    Hi everyone,
I am a new truck owner, I purchased my first truck about two weeks ago and I am looking to add some rock sliders to it (mostly for body armor in the city). I dont plan on doing any off roading right now but I want to get DOM tubing just in case in the future I do decide to do off roading and because DOM tubing will protect the truck better. I want to use the rock sliders as steps too and to protect from people opening their doors too wide and denting or scratching my truck doors.

I saw that RCI has some 5 degree and 20 degree sliders on their website for the 2020 Tacoma's: https://rcimetalworks.com/product/2016-tacoma-rock-sliders/ and they have a 15% off coupon right now but I dont know how good their sliders are, in their product description it has the measurements of their sliders and it says that their stronger than their competitors but the CBI sliders dont mention things like tube size. The RCI sliders have a similar installation to the CBI sliders after looking at their installation videos. The RCI Sliders say that their delivery doesnt include lift gate, its shipped via Fedex Freight.

The other sliders that I was looking at were the CBI Sliders because they seem pretty common in the off road videos that I see on YouTube and their sold by Tacomabeast, they also have a discount but its only a 10% discount on the Tacomabeast website with coupon codes TUBEVIEW or TOP5: https://tacomabeast.com/collections...k-sliders-with-kickout?variant=15427682435174

I contacted CBI to ask them what their sliders look like with the top plates and kickout because they didnt have any pictures on their website and they sent me these pics:

    T2-T3-RSBO-Kickout-Top-Plate-002_a5de79d1cf3f5ecebdb6f4814c91258e0ed65476.jpg T2-T3-RSBO-Kickout-Top-Plate-2-002_9870e42f4ce3ce8280b24de9f6781f1b53b4f248.jpg

Which company do you guys think makes better sliders?

They dont come up on Google with that name, do you have a link?

The RCI Sliders are definitely less expensive than the CBI ones, on the CBI website they dont have any promo codes that work and they charge $482.85 for shipping to a residential address with liftgate. On Tacomabeast the shipping is slightly cheaper at $286.04 and you can use a 10% off coupon to bring the price of the sliders down a little bit but their still pretty expensive compared to their competitors.

I like the design of the mobtown sliders: https://mobtownoffroad.com/product/2016-2020-toyota-tacoma-heavy-duty-bolt-on-rock-slider/ and their logo is funny (a truck face wearing a mafia suit + hat) and it also says that they use 2″ Square x 1/8″ Wall Tube for their sliders but it doesnt say if their sliders are HREW or DOM on their website.

The SOS Sliders look pretty thick for sure: http://sosoffroadconcepts.com/2016-tacoma-100-bolt-on-sliders/ but it says that their HREW instead of DOM on their website.

I was looking at some of the measurements of the sliders you guys recommended and heres what I found

RCI = 2" Square Wall Tube with 1.75 inch DOM Outer Rails come Standard. Available in 5 degree angle or 20 degree angle.
CBI = H.R.E.W. 1.75" x .120 Wall Tube is Standard, can upgrade to DOM for an extra charge, doesnt mention what angle they are.
Mobtown = 2″ Square x 1/8″ Wall Tube for their sliders but it doesnt say if their sliders are HREW or DOM on their website, angle isnt listed either.
SOS = 2x2.125" square wall tube and 1.75"x.120" HREW round outer tube, angle not listed on their website.

So far it looks like the thickest tubes are the RCI, Mobtown, and SOS

Mobtown is DOM. The powder coat they use is excellent, not to grippy, but not slick even when wet. I think mobtown and SDHQ have the strongest sliders based on design and materials.

You shouldn't need liftgate service for RCI Sliders. I had a pair shipped to Ontario, Canada a couple of months ago and Fedex Ground just brought them in a normal truck without issue. Same with the set of skid plates that came yesterday. I haven't seen enough sliders to compare but I was very happy with the RCI ones - that's why I bought a skid package from them as well.

You can always have them delivered to the nearest fed ex freight location and pick them up there. Fed ex will then load them for you

SOS sliders can come any angle, it’s customer request.

They also powder coat if wanted (not recommended if you plan to use them)

You probably don't need lift gate service. But the problem is that if they send a freight truck with a gate and you don't have a loading dock, the driver will drop the gate without asking. Then they will either bully you into paying or back charge the vendor (who will likely ask you to pay for it). It's a really messy annoyance that I wish freight driver wouldn't do.

I have RCI sliders I got earlier last year and they were delivered to my condo.

I love them. They are beefy as hell, the welds are done very well, and they bolted up easily without a hitch (considering some of the holes are inside the frame and hard to reach). I got them for pretty much the same reason you did. Protect the doors and any off-roading I might do. I've already been to Moab with them but I'm not going to do any crazy trails with my truck since its my daily as well. Just piece of mind I guess.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything else from RCI. Great quality. I'm eyeing a skid or maybe a bed rack in the future from them.

I have RCI sliders and skid plates. I like them. I don't jump my truck or rock-crawl or anything like that, but I've scraped them on rocks and they did their job. They don't quite look this nice anymore, but it' the only picture I got. Posted it in a couple threads. These are 20 degree RCI bolt-on with top plate (I got the powder coat, but if they get scratched up I can just hit it with a can of matte black paint. I ain't that particular about it)

Eh they look the same. The only real questions are mounting. Do either require drilling? What materials DOM or HREW? How many legs?Check recent delivery dates and customer feedback. Also what coatings offered.

If they are both are close in all the above pick your favorite letters.

I had a CBI front bumper and Sliders. They both bolted up perfectly and were a professional product. Never bought any RCI because at that time they weren’t around or if they were I didn’t hear of them, but I would assume they build a wonderful product as well.

I have RCI sliders and my only complaint about them is that they are on the short side. Meaning that they don't go from wheel well to wheel well.

I'll second this opinion. I bought RCI sliders and would do it again. Solid sliders for a very good price. I personally like them aesthetically as well.
