im stuck between a 3 inch rough country lift and a 3 inch pro comp lift? i have a 2007 tacoma prerunner and want to be able to clear 33s or with the least amount of rub. ive heard the rough country wont clear 33s but i dont know if thats true. if anyone has either lift id love to hear the reviews good or bad to help me on what i should purchase?

I have the pro comp 3" on my 05 double cab. Personally, it's total junk and I can't wait to take it all off next weekend. I understand about any lift will ride stiffer, I've had lifted trucks before, but this kit makes the truck ride like a friggin shopping cart. I'm pretty sure that's the consensus around hear. I can't speak on the rough country. I'm running 285's inner fenders trimmed quite a bit.

do you have a lift you would recommend? I don't do a whole lot of off roading and nothing real serious anyways. Is there a loft you would recommend to still get me 3 inches or a little more just so I won't rub? Also I'm trying to keep it around 600 or less

Maybe look at a spindle lift because you have a prerunner

Spindles are going to be a little out of your price range. You are already at 500 with the spindles and then still need to worry about lifting the rear end.

Oh, and don't get the Procomp lift, mine was trashed by 50,000 miles and I barely touched dirt with the kit.

Doesn't matter what crappy lift you buy(cause those are both junk!), the amount of lift won't be the issue with clearance. The clearance issues are fenders, cab mount, and tires clearing control arms/ suspension components.

How much total would spindle lift be?? Everything combined how much? And so all of y'all saying don't get either, then what lift do y'all recommend??

As a prerunner, your best option for the price (while retaining ride quality) is a spindle lift. Do the spindles up front with a progressive add a leaf in the rear. If you're still on stock shocks and struts, you'll eventually want to replace those too. There are literally a thousand combinations that can work. You need to do more research than just asking for a simple answer to be given. Read the suspension and prerunner threads to educate yourself.

Be aware that lift does not automatically mean you can clear bigger tires. Once the suspension compresses, you're back to (and below) stock ride height. Just be thankful that you don't need to worry about a front differential bearing or CV angles to complicate your lift - as we have with 4x4s.

Enjoy the journey, it's part of the fun. It's nice to have a truck that is badass, in addition to looking badass, but you have to pay to play.

I clear 33s (255/85/16) with 2.5 inches of suspension lift. A much wider tire will require some trimming and wheels with different offset/ backspace - I'm on stock wheels.

I've been piecing it together, so I don't really know. Plus mine is very purpose built with the idea being evolution according to changes in need. The only thing I can say for sure is that you are definitely not looking to run the setup I have. Read the suspension stuff https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/suspension.18/, the 35 thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-4x4-35s-3-lift-w-o-body-lift.285871/, the 37s thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gens-on-37-tires.319776/, the prerunner BS thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-prerunner-bs-thread.322687/

You need to do the research. I can't make it any easier for you than that. You'll find a lot of info in these threads that does not directly apply to you and your truck, but it will give you a better understanding of modifying a Tacoma and the domino effect that comes with doing so. They're not like an 83 Bronco that you just throw some 6" pacers in to fit 35s and go wheel the piss out of it - I know that's not your intent, but the example fits.
