I'll try to describe this in the best way possible... So there's a rattle (for lack of a better word) coming from what sounds like underneath the truck. If I had to say whether it's coming from the engine bay or underneath, I'd say it's coming from underneath. It's not a heavy or loud sound, but a lighter (with respect to weight) and softer rattle, soft enough that you might not be able to hear it with the A/C on full blast. It kinda sounds as if you were to rattle some ice in a plastic cup. And the truck only makes this sound when I'm taking off from a complete stop, and only in 1st gear really. It lasts a few seconds then fades away and doesn't come back until I take off from a complete stop again. I've been hearing this sound for 6 months maybe and I've never really looked into it... Has anybody come across this problem before?

Edit: Also kinda sounds like it's something loose, and only rattles when.... well... ^^^

sounds like very old body mounts. a body lift or new body bushings would probably do. but then again. ive had like 9 beers.........

I know mine is the catalytic converter shield, more specifically a loose shield with rocks in between it and the converter.

Mine does it too. To me it sounds like someone shaking a cup lightly with marbles in it. Drives me nuts cause I'm thinking something is going bad with the drivetrain or engine

    Me too!! It's killin me!

Update: I guess it doesn't happen EVERY time I take off, mostly when I take off with a heavy foot. Also when I go full throttle from a roll. Well... whenever I go full throttle maybe...

I'm gonna try removing the cat shield and see if that makes a difference.

I had a rattle similar to this. Check the Air intake box in the engine on the passenger side. The black foam around it had basically disintegrated and would rattle on takeoff. I ripped it off and put thick weather stripping around it.

Edit: Dammit. Can't read. This is for gen 1.

Sounds like your pinging. Try a tank of premium and some seafoam in the intake. Most people think this only applies to boosted vehicles. But mine had it slightly even before. I never knew what it was. And only happened when I mashed the pedal from a roll (which I've only done a few times). Now I know what it was.
