So a few weeks ago I noticed a rattle inside of my dash on the driver side. At first it was only noticeable when on bumpy terrain but now its always there driving everyday.

It sounds like its behind the gauge cluster or something.

I tried removing the tweeter grill and even the tweeter itself but it seems to be coming from deeper in the dash.

Really hard to trace since it only happens when driving.

Have any of you guys had to deal with a noise in a similar location?

Any help would be appreciated, its super annoying!

Dealership isnt much help as usual, they want to keep it for 2-3 days but its our daily driver and cant really afford to leave it with them.

Dash rattles plagued my 2016 before I got rid of it. I think your only option is to live with it or start putting toothpicks in the spaces between the trim to see if you can isolate where it is and then go from there. It is kind of all you can do unless you want to tear the dash apart.

If it is your DD and you want to leave it at the dealership, have you asked them about giving you a complimentary rental? You might not get a truck, but you'll have a vehicle at least. If they don't want to give you a rental, call Toyota corporate and open a case with them to nudge them along in doing so.

I had a rattle behind my glove box. Turned out to be right front body mount. 2017 OR.

Same issue. Dealership said it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.... I've been trying to poke around and find the source myself to no avail. Please let me know what you come up with.

I have a rattle in my 16 like that as well but coming from right side of dash, possibly the glove box or tweeter cover touching the side trim on the pillar. If I push on it usually it tightens up for a couple minutes. Seems like these dashes are just thrown together and the molds aren't exact, or they loosen up quickly creating small annoying sounds lol you are not alone.

Hopefully I'll find out soon, dropping the truck off tomorrow. Let's see what happens.

Yeah I have that one too, as well as trim on the driver side door making all sorts of racket. The one inside the dash is a deeper heavier than just molding.

Yeah its definitely deep in there, I haven't even the slightest clue where though. Can only drive around with my hand shoved under the dash for so long! lol

The rattle in the dash seems to be coming from the passenger side where the dash meets the windshield. Also I have one in the headliner around the console area. Had several in my second gen as well.

I would say you have some serious problems if you have that kind of rattle, lol.

I had this coming from passenger side, when I would press on the glovebox hard it would stop so I figured it was that. I had every intention on bringing it up to the dealer @ my 1st service.

Then I did the tweeter upgrade & it went away! I activated & deactivated the push pin in passenger tweeter grille before I re-installed. I have no idea if that made a difference or not.

I have the same issue. Off and on but sometimes it's really really bothersome. It is disappointing for a brand new vehicle to have these rattles already.

Mine rattled where the passenger speaker met the pillar. I removed the speaker cover and used some butyl mat where the foam was and near the place where the two pieces meet. Completely fixed it

My 2016 OR has been rattling every time its cold (somewhere above the glovebox). I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and it has not been fixed. I personally took apart the speaker grill, pillar and dash panels, put anti vibration tape at every conceivable place including dabs of silicone. None of that seemed to work. Drove around without the speaker grill for a while trying to isolate the noise.

I recently purchased some rubber door stop wedges. Hammered them between the dash and the windshield, and that has seemed to stop it for now. Not sure if it is a long term fix, but it has certainly helped. I only have 15k miles, the rattle started around the 6k mile mark.

Here is the amazon link to the wedges:
