I keep seeing ads for this RAS suspension kit. All their promotional info and everything I can find on their site sounds like it's just an easier to install add-a-leaf kit. Am I missing something? Is there some sort of electric component, if not why would they be comparing themselves to airbags which are easily fine tuned?

RAS is an excellent system and much easier to install than the others.
    RAS is adjustable. No electricity.

Like on the fly adjustment or what? And how do you adjust them?

You can adjust the preload on the spring. There are a couple disks...basically feeler gauges...in the box to give you an idea of 25-40% added capacity.

So its just a low cost alternative to air bags but with a set and forget mentality over on the fly adjustment? Sounds like good bang for your buck considering price if that's the case.

I run them, they are awesome. They are "automatic" in the way that the more load you have in the bed, the more weight they take off of the leaf springs. I have mine set to 25%, and they make the truck ride more smooth unloaded and loaded. When I have all of my camping gear + 2 bikes on my truck, it still sits at dang near stock height.

I also run the Roadmaster active suspension on my truck. The set and forgot was the selling point to me. I am a mechanic and installed alot of airbag kits and a few add a leafs. Air bags work well but the issues for me were that usually after a couple years they were guaranteed to leak, you had to maintain them with air and unless i'm at the shop I don't readily have air at my home, you have to have two separate circuits for each bag for them to do their job right or when you take a corner the air will just flow from one bag to the other negating the purpose of them plus, I find air bags ride rougher. I've been running the RoadMasters for over 100'000kms, the only claim of theirs I can honestly debunk is the axle wrap claim. I haven't noticed anything if much for help with axle wrap, only solution for that I can see would be a stiffer leaf pack

    40% extra (2mm spacer)
Everything else on my truck was stock.
Only suspension mod i've done aside from these is the bumpstops to durobumps... very pricey but with the Roadmasters I feel they blend together pretty good for a less jarring ride

I have airbags and have found no need to have on-the-fly adjustment.
