EDIT: Solved. Definitely either the radiator fan, climate control related fans, or both. I tested this by turning off all climate control settings and letting it sit and idle in park and it was dead silent. Surprisingly very quiet idle (maybe not since only 4 cylinder?). Regardless, thanks for everyone that replied. Glad to know its normal and not an issue.

I have a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road automatic. Just broke 2500 miles. Overall love the truck and I have no major issues or complaints.

However since I bought it, I've noticed this loud blowing/revving sounds from the engine that only occurs when parked. Never in drive at any speed/RPM. I can't find anything similar to this online and nothing matches this description in the manual. See video links.

Any help or insight is appreciated!

It's the radiator fan. They all do that. Not sure why. I assume it's got something to do with the fancy cooling system the engine has.

Heard the gen 4s don’t have a mechanical fan bolted to the crank like a 3rd gen…it has an electric fan attached to the radiator itself. Thats not a bad thing necessarily as its one less thing to deal with if you need to work on the front of the motor like changing a belt, idler, ect.

Thats probably what you’re hearing. Maybe pop the hood and have a look?

The puddle of water on the ground indicates the AC is running. Compressor kicking on and rev to match. Also radiator fan.

100% the radiator fans. My wife’s RAV4 and every rental Camry with an A25A (somewhat sister engine to the T24) does it when not moving with the AC or defroster on.

If you turn off AC and make sure you are not in Auto or Defrost mode, the cycling fan will stop. It is annoying, but this is how Toyota calibrates the electric fan on all of their vehicles now to periodically move a bit of air over the AC condenser.

Are you sure you don’t have a diesel engine that thing makes more noise than a 2GR-FKS.

Yeah i think its a combination of the radiator and AC fan. The second video was with the hood open.

No none of the 4th gen tacomas are diesel engines.

I think youre right minus the puddle. That puddle was there when I parked as I took this video immediately after parking and it was already there from a previous vehicle.

I know they don’t have diesel engines I was just saying it seems very noisy to me. I have heard other members comment that the gen 4 sounds like a tractor. I was joking about the diesel engine.

You have a nice truck and I’m thinking seriously about trading my 23 for a 25.

When I don’t have the AC on but my climate control is on auto, I still get puddles of water being discharged by a white tube under the body of the truck. Is this normal?

In auto, the climate control runs the AC. It is set to run the AC in Auto mode by default

Interesting. So even though I don’t turn on the A/C button, as long as the auto is set my ac is running.

When its needed to meet the temperature setting you have. Auto means Auto heat and AC. So, it either runs the heat or AC to meet the temp you set.
