    Hi

Just started to do this. The beep sound is like that when you put the 6 speed manual in revere. Driving along sometimes a single randomly spaced beep. Once in a while 5 beeps about a second apart. Once 8 beeps a second apart. I replaced backup light switch on the transmission with a new one - still beeps. When it beeps no warning lights.

Driving me nuts. What next? Try another new backup switch? Plug in and scan for codes?

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a hunch but does your airbag light come on during the key on bulb check?

The passenger airbag light comes on, stays on. Don't see another airbag light.

Not sure what could be beeping when it's not supposed to (several modules have beepers (combination meter and 4wd module I know do, not sure which others do)), do you have any aftermarket alarm/remote start system that could be beeping?

    no no aftermarket alarm
did add better backup lights (led) into trailer wiring; also added ham radio

    will take truck into garage out of the cold and go through radio wiring to see if I pulled a connector by accident or nicked a wire;
then will unhook new backup lights and test drive to see if beep goes away

both these changes were done in early summer 2021 so not thinking they caused issues as beeping just started in Jan 2022

Next try will be another new backup switch to mount on the transmission and a new female connector to wire that in in case corrosion has gotten in to the truck side connector

also will borrow a diagnostic scanner and see if anything shows up

    after that, out of ideas

    all help and ideas welcomed

ok, may have solved the random beeps

got the 2006 Tacoma wiring diagrams from dardoor.com

3 circuits share the beeper: 1) backup switch. 2) key remaining in ignition alert. 3) driver seatbelt

I had replaced backup switch on side of 6 speed manual transmission - a curiosity here is that the wiring diagrams clearly show the switch and the path to the wiring that turns on the backup lights but I could not trace in the Toyota diagrams a path to the beeper when putting 6 speed manual into reverse

I did not want to mess with the ignition switch

So I focussed on driver seatbelt - the belt receptacle is a switch, it runs on beeper when ignition is on but you have not buckled up and also
makes idiot warning light blink. Used contact cleaner on the buckle receptacle then cleaned contacts on two connectors under driver's seat

Question - why is there a switch that seems to be there to sense if the drivers seat is off its tracks? - a switch on right side where seat frame slides along
    tracks

test drive - random beeps gone

my guess is an intermittent contact in driver seat belt sensing circuit

curious if folks know about 1) circuit from 6 Spd transmission backup switch to beeper and also 2) what is switch on driver's seat tracks

    thanks
