Ram Magnetic Mount?

Hi all, first thread, new Tacoma owner... which has little to do with the actual topic

I've been using Ram products for a while (mostly on motorcycles), but I have a question regarding magnetic phone mounts. It seems like they offer magnetic products, but it doesn't seem very clear which of them you attach to a mount, and what you're supposed to do with the phone itself...

I understand it might be easier to use a whatever metal plate from Amazon to stick between the phone and case, but does anyone use their actual magnetic mount (which appear to not come with a ball, but attachment holes?)?

I've got an X-grip, but it's kind of a two hand ordeal, which seems unnecessary for daily driving.

Some phones have enough ferrous material to be magnetic enough or have a metal ring built into it for the magnet.
You'll have to get a double sided metal ring or plate. You can also slide the metal between the phone and case. Be careful of scratches if you care.

Most have just the attachment holes unless you get a kit. You'll need mount, ball and arm. Then something to connect it to. Base.

 

You can use the magnetic base as a phone mount. It's super strong! I use a scosche magnetic plate on the phone case.

Thanks, question, is it like ridiculously strong? I see they offer a single magnet that you need to add a ball to, but a couple of folks have said it doesn't have enough grip. On the other hand, I don't want to have to man handle the thing to get the phone off the mount. Can you one hand "slide" the phone off?

 

It's washboard forest service road strong. But I can still pull it off while dressed business casual for work without breaking a sweat.

 

Hah, cool. I just didn't want to replace an x-grip that takes both hands with a super magnet that also takes two hands... ya know

That is great, now I can purchase the Hondo mount. I never really liked the standard phone grips/mount. You have just the 1 magnet in the base?

 

There are three magnets in that base.
