I planned to avoid mud flaps because so many of them were relatively stiff and I was concerned about them snapping off during rock crawling. I realized that A LOT of off roading I do sees A LOT of mud, and not so many rocks, so I decided to try flaps. After seeing several reviews I decided to try the RA mud flaps and ordered them for about $175 with shipping. Here's the box that arrived:

Opening it revealed some packaging that was nice... not quite what I expected for truck mud flaps:

    The brown wrapper contained this:

And separated out, the pieces are thus:

There are hard plastic upper flaps that attach to the truck fender and a lower, soft rubber flap that attaches to the upper. One thing that surprised me was that the attachment nuts, bolts and washers are plastic. After consideration it makes sense - there's no need for a stronger attachment like metal bolts when the plastic or rubber will tear first. Here's the rear flap, upper and lower:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-23-45.jpg

Pushing on the plastic flap portion with a fair amount of force, here's how much it bends (not much):

Here's the rubber portion bent with much less force:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-25-30.jpg

Here's a front and rear flap "assembled":

    Rear flap hanging:

    Rear flap bent:

The hard plastic of the flap is a little over 12" long:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-32-27.jpg

Here's are opposite sides of the flap lined up at their bottom, showing about a 1 inch overlap between the plastic and rubber portions of the flap:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-34-8.jpg

Finally, the rubber extends about 4.5" past the edge of the plastic upper flap:

Moving on, the install took me about 2 hours. It's simple, but I knew there was an issue from another poster regarding a threaded post that they removed, and I wasn't really sure how to handle it (or if it was relevant). Aside from that one issue the instructions were fairly straight forward. Regarding that issue, and for my '22 Tacoma OR, each inner fender had 3 bolts that I removed and a fourth "hole." The "hole" was a plastic tab that looked like it can be pried off, but it's a backing tab for the plastic threading behind it. You do NOT remove it - you just screw a bolt into it, hand tighten and done. Here I'm pointing to the location of the "hole" tab:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-42-48.jpg

And here is the wheel well showing all the bolt holes (bolts removed) and the "hole" towards the back/left (so to repeat, you remove the three bolts on the right, and screw a bolt into the left "hole" - don't remove it!):

Here's the flap installed and showing the included spacer:

    Rear flap installed:

Showing flex in the rubber portion:

    From the rear/side:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-47-57.jpg

There's a little inward/outward bias you can apply to the flap, and after looking at the alignment of the flaps vis-à-vis the wheel, I decided to bias the rear flaps inward as much as possible. There is plenty of coverage over the outside of the wheel, but not as much over the inside of the wheel:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-50-8.jpg

Front and rear, installed. It's hard to see, but I also biased the front flaps OUTWARD as much as possible, but the rear flaps extend beyond the outward edge of the wheels (even biased inward) to a greater degree, than do the front flaps (biased outward). Front flap:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-53-0.jpg

Here's the detail on the bolts of the front flap, slightly more complicated than the rear:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-54-9.jpg

    Here's looking from the front:

    upload_2023-3-7_23-55-25.jpg

The flaps feel pretty sturdy and I like the rubber lower portion. I looked at Rokblox and was a little confused about whether their flaps would work on my Taco OR with its muffler placement. I'm guessing, if they don't, it's because the soft flaps would get pressed against a hot muffler and may melt. These flaps won't touch the muffler (I believe).

I've done some mudding in them and I'm so-so satisfied. There's certainly a lot less mud that get's thrown onto the body, but what I was hoping for was that the lower body, adjacent to the bottom of the doors, would not get coated with mud. While they are not getting as coated, there's still mud down there (which is hard to keep from coating my legs/pants when I enter and exit). I was too optimistic and naïve. They look sharp and do reduce the amount of mud, so that's great. Time will tell if they get jeopardized/damaged/destroyed from rock crawling (I'm guessing no for a while due to new-car-itis that will keep me from doing anything that would risk my truck - only rock crawl lite for my new baby).

I'm happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for posting the detailed review! I have the factory ones now but thought about changing to the Rally Armor as I had them on my last Subaru’s. These have quite a different design than the traditional ones.

Absolutely - the flaps continue doing the job of keeping some mud, snow, slush and dirt off the truck. Sometimes less, sometimes more... They are holding up fine for now (2 months in).

I had these on my WRX. They're nice flaps but the shiny finish gets scratched up and starts to look terrible pretty quickly.

I have Rally Armor's on my Tesla Model Y they are great, I was considering them for my Taco, but the idea of a 2 piece flap didn't appeal to me.

I went with Rokbloz for mine, just got them yesterday will be putting them on today.

Nice write up on the Rally Armor's.

Thanks! I hope the write-up is useful to people in making a decision about them, yay or nay.

Are the Rokbloz stiff enough that they can't contact your muffler? That was a an unknown to me.

the Rokbloz are plenty stiff, I do not see the touching the exhaust.

    They do look good!
As mentioned though Id worry about how they look even after a single venture onto the rocks however.
Id like to have a set of flaps too, although my newer much wider fender flares seem to take care of most of the mess, but I would like something a bit (much?) more flexible however, as the truck sees a lot of camping and overlanding, and will eventually see more rocks too.

    Thanks for the right up!

Had a set on mine for like a week. With my set up with a 0 offset wheel I’d catch the bolts on the bottom of the flap when I turned the wheel.

I mean, pretty much any non-pizza cutter 33 is going to rub. I don't think that's the mudflaps fault :notsure:
