I’ve never experienced this problem before. It appears that I have real dust on my midnight black metallic 2020 Tacoma. Any tips or products to use to get rid of it?

what's rail dust? anything under the truck will get dirty.

edit; i guess rail dust are speckles of rust on body work?

you can try and get rid of the contaminants with Carpro IronX (iron remover) and then clay bar it. then you can paint correct it and polish it afterwards. seal it back up with a wax of your choice.

please note that iron removers will strip the body of any wax currently on the vehicle and clay bar is an abrasive that will create micro swirls no matter what you do. most waxes can hide the swirls with fillers.

Clay bar gets rid of rail dust. Buy a Meguiars kit with the spray.

I have never experienced swirls on multiple new cars after after using a clay bar.

    Not a big deal.

Detailers and clean car hobbyists know that claying is abrasive to paint. maybe not so much the silly putty that you buy from auto zone but they're all the same when you glide it over your paint work. hell, even the wash mitt causes swirls haha.

a regular joe might not see it so you can get away with just a clay and wax. no big deal! its going to get dirty anyway. at the end of the day it isn't my truck. =D

hope the clay bar will fix your problem!

cheap solution would be eagle1 black/plastic wheel cleaner, $5 for a 32 oz bottle. works well enough compared to ironx, even if you need to do 2 applications. then clay and seal/wax.

IRONX and Clay Bar are your friend and then reapply wax.

that's the fingers of a hard labor working person, not a pencil pusher.

I worked at a detail shop back in the day and my nails would look properly manicured because of the polish and rubbing compounds LOL!

just gotten a new truck. I'm thinking of partially doing a diy coating on the bed. It's white in color and I may get away washing, de-ironing and clay toweling the paint? I guess it depends on how much I can live with?

I periodically strip off the wax and do the fallout removal and clay bar then reseal. Takes some time, but the results look great and it keeps it looking new. Mine is white as well.

Even when I was a mechanic my fingernails weren't that gross.

Gloves and fingernail clippers are not stuff of the elite anymore

you know what I and some of us not very well-to-do and/or cheapskates may not invest in those amenities.
