One for an automatic, one for a manual?

If so, automatic should be the larger.

If you have a manual, the one for the auto will fit and give more capacity. Auto may also have another row. A good thing.

"The system's capacity is 2 gallons for the I4, 2 1/2 gallons for the V6, and a little more when either one is equipped with the manual transmission."

this somehow doesn't sound 100% right?

I used 2 gal of zerex asian, also filled up the reservoir. There was none left, it was just enough.

Bumping in here looking for aftermarket replacements.

Sounds about right to me. Rads for autos have built-in coolers for the transmission, that is why the auto version should have a little less coolant capacity due to area being taken up by the integrated tranny cooling core (uses rad coolent to cool). In addition, my 2001 V6 also has lines to an oil cooler that is a sandwich plate where the oil filter goes, much like a 2jzgte- tapping further into BPU load on the OE rad- not that I'm complaining, seems like OEMs do this to powerplants that need to survive beatings.

Sounds like you have one for an automatic, and you could still use it, its just that the trans cooler portion will not be put to use.

Conversely, if an auto person has an aftermarket external tranny cooler, they can go for radiators that do not have the trans cooler portion built in, and that is what I'm looking for right now. Super easy to find aftermarket 'upgraded' radiators for sporty cars, but having a hard time with this truck- OE rad seems to have sprung a leak and I don't want another OE or wanna-be cheapo OE one, what a full aluminum- anyone have recommendations?

Whike back there were all aluminum rads on Amazon for decent prices. But i tried looking just the other day and was having a hard time finding them again. I did find atleast one, but they were outta stock... it took several tries of different wording too, if i remember right.

∆ yeah, its pretty hard. Found some for the old 3.0, and one on ebay for my year model but they label it just for the 2.4. I'm 99% it would fit, and being a performance aluminum it will max out on capacity and not be a dinky 2 gallons. I'm going to contact them on this, and if just for manual I'm good there, already upgraded my tranny cooler.

Just dont want plastic end tanks anymore

Im sure it would bolt up but itll more than likely be shorter than the old one. Which would pry be fine cause it would be so much mire efficient. Only ussue would be your fan shroud wouldn't fit anymore. I fought this once when trying to buy a new radiator. Thought all was well untill i went to bolt the shroud back on. Felt stupid for not even atleast holding the new one up to theold one for comparison.
Was in such a pinch at the time i had to get the truck going again, i sacrificed the shroud and cut out a chunk of it to accomodate the lower hose.

Hi everyone, looking for some advice. I am replacing my radiator. Besides the radiator, what else should I replace. Hoses, thermostat, radiator cap. Please keep in mind, I am trying to keep this fix inexpensive, but also do want leaks any time soon. Thanks for any help.

When I replaced my radiator at 20 years and 120K miles, I went with a dense OEM radiator. Zero fitment issues, everything just bolted right up. You can still find OEM radiators you just have to look.

I also changed to top and bottom hoses, constant tension clamps, and a new t-stat (all OEM).

I'm lazy so I only use OEM parts. If you use aftermarket parts you can plan on doing this again in the future...

this is the one I bought in the fall, working with no issues (bolt holes are not "exact" but it does bolt up)
