A few weeks ago I ordered a few rolls of vinyl wrap in three colors. Gunmetal grey , Med.grey, and light grey.
I finally got around to laying out some old school stripes this weekend .
I did reinstall the fender flares. I'll try and get a pic after work of it completed.
It looks much better with flares on. But not sure if I'm loving the light grey.
I'm thinking about removing the light grey and replacing it with the med. Grey. (The center strip color) .
What do you guys think of that idea ?
I did layout , cut and install stripes on rear also. But wound up not liking it . So I removed it .
The vinyl wrap material is easy to work with. It will stretch and lay into body rolls easy. It's easy to remove and replace if not laid in correct spot.
I cleaned fenders , removed the toyota tacome badge . And cleaned area with a rubber stripe removal type wheel I bought from advance Auto.
then cleaned again with 70% rubbing alcohol.
I laid out my placement lines with blue painters tape .
I had made a template from cardboard that I traced onto vinyl. Then cut out pattern and applied to fenders.
It didn't take as long as I thought to do both sides .
I have to remove the short piece closest to grill on passenger side because after looking I'm not happy with the way I cut or placed it.
All in all an easy project . That can be removed if you wind up not liking it .
I'm waiting on new 3" lift Bilstein 5100 shocks with OME coils. I ordered From lowrange 4x4 .
I have a new set of add a leafs for the rear . Hopefully I can get it installed before to long .
Anyway hope you all like the idea of the retro racing stripes.

    Also on the oldschold look.
I'm thinking of removing side mirrors . And installing the old chrome two mount point , swing out mirrors.
    ? Anyone running them ?

Mirrors something like these or what I'm thinking about.
Years ago I had a 1982 toyota 4x4 that had these type mirrors

spent some time lookin at what the factory graphic options were lookin around '98 like and came up with this amoeba lookin side splash,
not refined enough for install, but I think it'll look sweet. (pardon the digital mockup pic, pre-frame/suspension/tires work)

Thanks . I'm OCD about stuff . It took forever to get them on.
And I still want to refine some stuff with them. Still not sure if I'll keep light grey. .
    I love the splash concept.
The vinyl wrap is easy to work with.
I bought but didn't use knifeless tape.
You lay it down in any pattern . Lay vinyl down then pull tape through vinyl . It cuts the pattern you laid out.
I'd like to play with it in the future.
It may work on the splash design.

Not the best pics . It's still dark outside. Waiting to go into work this morning. But a few pics of stripes with fender flares re installed.
Not to bad a job for an old welder and some vinyl .

I actually bought vinyl wrap by the roll .from Amazon.
    I think 2 foot x 5 foot .
The first two grey colors look the same . But first is gun metal grey. Second med. Grey. Third is light grey.
Online the first one looked much darker than second color.
I wanted the stripes to gradually go from dark to light.
    I made a cardboard template . I think it was 12" tall x 6 " wide. On a 45 degree angle .
I laid it on vinyl sheet and Drew around it with a fine point marker . Then cut it out with scissors.
I bought enough to do front and back.
Two rolls of each color. And knifless tape that I didn't use. It was something like $80 .
The few strip kits I found we're around $400+
I think one place was Jessie James customs . Maybe.
But it was really easy to layout and do it myself.
If it would help I could take some pics of the template I made when I get off work.
