I have seen a couple of people running racing style seats in the front. With that being said, after some time worth of searching I haven't found any threads which talk about not triggering the SRS light.

I am looking at some Sparco or Recaro seat replacements (Most likely will shoot for R100's) for the driver and passenger replacements as my back tends to hurt from some previous issues and the stock seats only exacerbate the problem. They are too stiff. I am all for replacing them at this point and the physical swap out seems like a simple task to undertake enough, but the SRS bypass is what I am curious as to how hard or easy it is to keep from triggering. I do not mind losing the seat side airbag at all, I just don't want to be staring at that light all day long while I drive.

Has anyone done it successfully? What would be involved in removing in the old stock seats?

supposingly u could use any resistor that is 2ohm to trick the computer that is the airbag and also an 10amp fuse should be place there too. if u figure out what slider and bracket to use let me know.

Where did you read that from?

I have read that you could pull some sort of bladder out of the stock unit and just plant it somewhere underneath the seat, then ground the related wiring harnesses to the chassis and all is good. Supposedly.

The slider is supposed to transfer over from the stock setup onto the bracket which is made by Sparco for our trucks.

    Interesting topic.

I dabble in air bag replacements.

I think a resistor would be required. The SRS ECU uses continuity to do a system check on every start up. Just need to ohm the sensors in the seat, install resistors in place and you should be good to go.

    Please update what you find.

I hate dealing with SRS related hardware. Any little thing can bother it then set it off. Replacing the hardware is relatively simple, but very expensive if you accidentally trip off a bag. Waiting for more people to weigh in.

I've replaced many bags, but never tripped a bag that I didn't intend to. The bag won't do shit without input from the ECU.

This is true. The thought of it going off is what freaks me out.

    True, very true.

Once seat belt is in clicked, air bags can't deploy. SRS- suplimental restraint system. They only work with seat belts, not alone.

They need at least 9 volts to trigger. Remove neg battery cable, step on brake or turn on headlights to bleed off any residual voltage and the system is dead.

How much for your bypass resistor? I need two don't I? One for driver and one for passenger? Also, is it just a plug and play deal? No additional junk needed from the stock seat?

It appears as if it is only for passenger occupants. No mention to the driver. Also, it appears that some soldering and usage of a resistor is still necessary regardless.

Mm… gotcha… Idk man. There is no mention to driver and that is the biggie to me. I could hold off on the passenger seat install but the driver side is the most important to me for the time being.

I think it still works no matter what. There isnt a seat sensor in the drivers seat so no need for this
