Hey there, I wanted to start a thread on how we went from stock to not-so-stock. Should have started this thread a while ago when I got the truck but better late than never! A lot of these photos aren't on social media so it's an honor to show them here with you guys!

    How it started:
    CLS04488.jpg

    How it's going:
    CLS05654.jpg

On February 19, 2024 our 2024 Toyota Tacoma arrived at Mountain States Toyota in Colorado! Our sales rep Braden was amazing at keeping me posted through out the entire build to delivery process!

We got the TRD Off Road package, non-hybrid, double-cab long bed, and the big head unit.

February 22, 2024 we took the Tacoma to Lucid Wraps in Colorado to get the roof, pillars, and mirrors wrapped gloss black. It turned out amazing! It completely changed the way the truck looks IMO.

March 4, 2024 we went down to Castle Rock, Colorado to help upTOP Overland make a roof rack for the 2024 Tacoma. This was birth of the KILO line of roof racks from upTOP Overland.

The KILO has formed sides so you don't get the wavy side panels normally seen in other roof racks that are just a cut side plate. I love that everything is made in house as well.

We also installed their TRUSS mid-height bed rack. One of the best bed racks on the market IMO. I've been running an upTOP Overland bed rack for over 5 years.

March 5th we went to the trail where the TFL team broke their 2024 Tacoma to see what went wrong. Yes, we tried to replicate the issue. Nothing broke. Here is a YouTube video of this trail - https://youtu.be/HAX_XQcIRj0

We also installed an upTOP Overland 38" light bar in the KILO roof rack.

March 8, 2024 we wanted to test what the largest size tires would fit on the factory wheels with full articulation and travel with zero rubbing issues. We landed on the popular 285/70/17 tire size and went with the Toyo RT Trail.

We put the 2024 Tacoma through a lot of different terrains to test out it's capabilities. I am very impressed with it so far, even as a long bed. We have a long travel 2017 Tacoma so we are familiar with how the 3rd gen Tacoma does in comparison.

April 23, 2024 we installed the Peak Suspension spacer lift kit with the 2" in the rear. We also installed an old set of 35s on some new RRW RS2-S wheels. These wheels are in the limited brushed aluminum color. These are a size 17x8 with a +12 offset since the new 2024 Tacomas are wider than the 3rd gen Tacoma.

We also took the upTOP Overland mid-height bed rack to try another setup, camper setup.

Now you have me smiling. Above all enjoy it in good health. I'm super happy to have found the hard to get long bed OR.

The smile is have seen that look which is kind of neat but I purposely wanted to have an all white roof again and no sun/moon roof. It also took little time for my trail building work to get a dent in the roof where I can't explain how it even occurred.

    :)

How has the roof rack and lights been so far? Any wind noise?

No wind noise at all, upTOP Overland has always been the quietest roof racks we've had personally and installed at the shop. The light bar is very affordable and plenty bright.

June 5, 2024 we installed the NYTOP rock sliders. These rock sliders are unique because they are fully boxed instead of tubed. The NYTOP rock sliders have a flat top plate for a perfect step while still having an angled underside to slide over rocks.

We decided to design and manufacturer our own cat-back exhaust. This features 3" piping to allow the turbo engine on the new 2024 Tacoma to breathe. We have dyno numbers later in the thread. The R4T 2.4L turbo Tacoma exhaust is priced higher than most because we use higher grade stainless steel, V-bands, and TIG welded. We are thinking about offering a standard version to bring down cost. Will update later in the thread.

July 10, 2024 we install the NYTOP carbon fiber fender flares. These are real carbon fiber and they are 1 inch wider than the factory fender flares. The 35s with 17x8 +12" offset now don't poke past the fender flares which is great for not slinging rocks and mud.

September 13, 2024 we installed the Rago Fabrication center mount bumper on our 2024 Tacoma. The front bumper allowed us to install a 20" Baja Designs OnX6 light bar and 12k synthetic Super Winch. We also installed the Baja Designs fog pocket kit while the bumper was off. We also, installed the rear bumper from Rago Fabrication which is a no cut full replacement bumper. The rear bumper adds protection and allows a Baja Designs S2 to be mounted.

Lastly, we took off the camper and installed the full height upTOP Overland bed rack. We missed having an open bed so we took the camper off.

September 18, 2024 we decided to get a tonneau cover for the 2024 Tacoma. We wanted one that still works with the upTOP Overland full-height bed rack and has rails on top for ease of installation so we got the RetraxONE XR. It also looks amazing without the bed rack.

October 13, 2024 we re-installed the upTOP Overland full-height bed rack but this time it was installed on the RetraxONE XR tonneau cover.

Uptop is too tacti-cool for me but everything else looks great. Do the wider flares solve the issue of rocks beating the rockers and rear flares up which had been a common concern from the factory?

December 11, 2024 we decided to go bigger on tire size because of the way it looked with the +1" carbon fiber fender flares. We wanted more poke from the wheel/tire combo so we installed the brand new RRW RG4-H in a 17x8.5 0 offset. The old set was 17x8 +12 offset. We then installed 37x12.5x17 Toyo MTs with bead lock rings.

We needed a little more lift from the Peak Suspension spacer lift kit so we swapped it out for 2024 Tacoma King Shocks kit. We set the front at 2" and used rear coil springs from a 2022 Tundra for the rear lift.

We took all the crash brackets off inside the wheel well that would cause rubbing issues. We trimmed the liner high up as needed. We also had to cut the NYTOP carbon fiber fender flares to allow full articulation and suspension travel.

We also installed the RCI skid package for the 2024 Tacoma which includes the engine, transmission, and T-case skid.

RCI - Skid Plate Package - Toyota Tacoma (2024+)
    https://runnin4tacos.com/products/rci-skid-plate-package-toyota-tacoma-2024

After we trimmed everything necessary, we went to Sand Hallow to make sure we had the proper clearance.
