1.6 million miles on the chassis. Second or third engine and one or two transmissions. Either way. It’s pretty awesome.

2nd Gen baby! I just came across that video last night, watched it....sucked to hear that the owner of that awesome truck passed. They are doing him right by putting that badboy on display. While watching, I was hoping to hear that Toyota was gonna give him a new one in exchange, like that did for the owner of the first million-mile Tundra. Makes me appreciate my 2nd gen that much more. RIP Mike

The 1.6 million mile Tacoma outlived the original owner. Pretty amazing story.

And he was able to do it without a 3in lift, 33in tires, LED light rack, bed rack with gas cans and hijack lifts and shit, winch, steel front and rear bumpers.

Pretty amazing example of a well designed and well built product that was properly maintained... considering he was doing some pretty good stuff with it id like to think maybe he had some help from above as well.

One of the reasons I am rebuilding mine honestly.

I've followed the guy for several years. The original engine needed a new head gasket at 900,000 miles. The engine itself was still fine, just needed a gasket. They decided it made more sense to just replace the entire engine with one from a scrapyard. That engine had 100,000 miles on it when installed. He then put another 600,000 on that engine for a total of 700,000 miles on engine#2 which is still running.

If he ever replaced the transmission I never saw anything about it. In one article he noted that he didn't change the AT fluid until 400,000. He changed oil once per month. He didn't keep up with miles, just once/month, but that averaged 8000-10,000 miles/month.
