How much you spend will make the difference. A complete color change done the right way is going to be thousands.

The paint on yours looks really good as it is. Our red 96 faded like a mofo lol. You could always look into getting it wrapped too.

If you end up monstalining it, it's pretty neat stuff. I ended up putting it on mine. I really like it, especially for the cost.
That being said, keep the same color unless you are willing to do the engine bay and door jams, which will get very $$.

The thing I like about monstaliner is that you can brush and roll it out and that would be perfect if you were spraying the truck and wanted matching door jambs etc. I've been going back and forth about rolling the whole truck or masking off the whole truck and driving it down to the end of my little side street where there's a body shop and seeing if they'll spray it for cheap since they're just hosing it and everything else is done including the paint.

I used to paint professionally and spent the first year and a half masking in front of the lead guy so I've got some practice lol.

Your truck looks really good - I just checked out your paint thread. I see they sold you their whole kit which is too bad because "pro painter" equipment is super cheap and can be gotten at any Home Depot or Lowe's and real paint supply stores. All I use are some decent quality roller naps, grids for buckets, and high quality reusable brushes - that'll paint anything from an old fence to touching up a living room wall in a million dollar home (from my experience lol). Here's some shots of some wheels that I painted the last couple weekends. Probably spent $75 on paint and supplies - it's been awhile since I did any projects so I had to buy a few buckets & rollers etc.

It's a lot of work but not that tough with the right system - just like anything else with painting it's most important to prep well and to pay attention to detail.

I like that color red. That's a really nice looking 96 - super clean!

Thats because toyota usually uses single stage on all their solid colors even brand new ones. Get someone with a buffer and some compound you can probably bring most of your paint back to a good look

Heres the one FirstGen Jer was referring to... Pretty truck but I agree with some of the others that a change from red to Quicksand would be tough. LogCabins truck was tan to begin with so going Quicksand wasn't a huge jump.

Unfortunately that ones no longer with us RIP so don't have to deal with it lol.

My black 98 has some issues with the clear coat cracking which is annoying.

Radiant red is a sacred color, changing it would be blasphemy

Go for it and definately use the monstaliner. I did my whole 96 in midnight special. Its held up awesome and looks great. I bought the gun from monstaliner and was able to spray it in my garage. Ill be using them again in the future.
