I have a rather trivial question but it does bug me. Putting new tires (BFG Trail Terrain) on my cement 2020 TRD ORDC. Everything is blacked out on the truck so I was going to have the tires mounted ‘outlined white letters inside’. It just looks cleaner to me. For anyone who has mounted tires with white letters inside do you see the white letters if you look at your truck from an angle from the front or rear? After a while I assume the inside of the tires will get dirty so may not matter anyway. Photo of current setup.

My ko2s have white on the inside, never even noticed until I was down there for unrelated reasons. They're so dirty you can hardly even notice they're white in the first place. Wouldn't worry about it.

You can still see the white letters from certain angles but looks way better than white out :puke:

Yes, and yes. You answered yourself. They will get dirty, so you won't notice them.

Fun to watch this thread go zany.

if you look closely at many white outs after a few months even those are filthy. White in is nearly invisible.

I had them on the inside of a previous truck and you would never notice it.

Paint them black if it bothers you.

I’ve never seen it unless I’m under the truck. Color it in with sharpie if you think it’s an issue.

    Unrelated...

I have the same rack setup on my truck. Does the wind faring help reduce the noise significantly?

You can see them for a little while. A few off road trips will cure that.

It's hard to make anything on an outer surface completely invisible to someone who's going to seek it out.

I can't remember ever having accidentally noticed the inside face of my tires, but I also don't spend much time staring at the outsides of them either. Maybe if I spent half my day gazing at the tires on my truck, I'd probably catch a glimpse of the inside faces here and there. Or if I decided for some reason to crawl around the permieter of the vehicle while keeping my head within 12" of the ground I'm sure I'd see them.

If you have a high-clearance front bumper and trimmed fenders, and look head-on while the wheels are at full "lock" steered to one side or the other that'd probably be the most likely situation in which you'd have a clear view of the inside face of a front tire while it's not in a fairly deep shadow.

I have the Yakima jet stream bars. By themselves I could hear them but found that the fairing did help reduce noise in my opinion. Did not eliminate it but improved it. I also have a Yakima kayak rack that I can certainly hear even with the fairing, but that is to be expected.

Thanks for everyone’s replies on this. Sounds like I should be just fine with black side out.

Some tire shops can spray paint the white letters black prior to mounting them on to the wheels.

You can see the white letters turned in only when you wake up next to your truck after a heavy night of drinking.

you might be able to find the same version with only black letters. I got Ko2's, and they make a few different part numbers. if you look up the part numbers and the specs on bfg's website, you see ones that are labeled RBL, and RWL, one being raised black letters, and raised white letters. get the RBL if you dont wanna have to see the white letters on the inside if you get white letters and have them flipped to the inside

You only see the white letters when you swap the needle bearings for an ecgs bushing

I have white letters out on both my tacoma and 4runner with the 4runner having trail terrains (great tires by the way). Did it because I thought it complimented the white paint color nicely.
