For you guys with low profile tonneau covers like the BakFlip, Rough Country, etc., I see that they have drain tubes in the rails near the cab end of the bed. My truck will be parked on a fairly sloped driveway, which will reduce the effectiveness of the drains. Will water overflow the back of the rails and flood the bed? Will I have to back into the driveway to accommodate?

I own the back flip (short bed) and I just went straight down with the tubes through my rear tire wells to allow the most usable room and not hinder any of my junk i store in the bed.. it wont get flooded back there. The water will exit the rails near the tailgate as well. Its not a sealed gutter to trap water.
I live in CA and we do get heavy rains and storms but my bed keeps dry. The bed is not peferctly sealed to make a pool or anything. Water can still find its way in the bed when driving in heavy rain, but nothing to be concerned about. If you want me to upload any pics of the cover just let me know.

I have an Extang Encore. The rails are covered by the tonneau but not watertight. I have never seen appreciable water accumulation in the rails. More water gets in through the gaps around the tailgate.

Thanks guys...I was going to get the "sit on top" cover, like I had on my last Tacoma, but I really do like the flush look of the low-profile design. Think I'm going to give one a shot.

They are nice, but something to consider; the covers that fit in the bed opening also reduce storage height, on an already shallow bed. To many, this is a nonissue, but for me, it meant I couldn’t get basic gear like coolers to fit under a closed cover, without removing my bed mat,,, of course that meant all the other gear is sliding all the hell around now. I got rid of it for this reason.

I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't considered that. I have a number of things that fit in my last Tacoma with an inch to spare (coolers, propane tanks, etc.). I imagine they won't fit with the low-profile cover, so I'm probably better off with the style I had on my last Tacoma from a utility perspective.

No need, that’s why I add this to these type of posts. Luckily for me; my friend gave me his hail damaged tri fold cover, since insurance bought him a new one. As it turns out, the guy that sold me his fiberglass topper bought it, and I gave the money back to my buddy, so all the parties were happy.

I and a lot of others here have a a lomax trifold tonneau cover, it’s low profile and doesn’t require drain tubes. Love it.

Except that they are ugly imho and you can't fit a four wheeler in there or other tall items.

Bakflip X4S here; no drain tubes. If I were to do it again shell or Lomax tri-fold. The X4S is almost watertight, but not perfect. I don't like that the plastic end trim pieces constantly pop off when rolling up and unrolling and that it shifts and has to be re-adjusted every so often. It's also too hot to open and close during the summer with the metal slats, but it seems very secure.
