Question for those who have the truxedo Elevate Rack

I already have the Bakflip MX4 trifold bed cover on my 2023 TRD OR DC & now I'm trying to get more info on the rack.
The rack has 2 adjustment levels & bolts together at these pre-drilled choices- neither one I want. What I want to do is run a stock roof rack & install the Elevate rack at my desired height. I want to be able to carry long stuff on top & have the rack set at same height as roof rack. Can I drill extra set of holes in uprights at new height? Instead of bolts, can I use quick release pins?

Or is there a better option? I want to be able to open the MX4 with rack installed & carry an extension ladder on occasion.
