Question about some yearly maintenance

    I thought I'd share a little To-Do List I'm putting together for myself. I'd probably be good doing most of these in the Spring and again in the Fall.

    I posted it here as a .jpg but I also included a .pdf version

    What should I add? What should I take away? What products do you like better?

    I recently removed my sway bar. I had sprayed some White Lithium Aerosol on the bushings but after removing it it doesn't look like any of it made it's way into the bushing. I know I removed the sway bar so it doesn't really matter now. What about the rest of the front suspension? Do you spray White Lithium Grease on the ball joints or Outer Tie Rod Ends or your Carrier Bearing? I'll continue to use White lithium on things like Seat Tracks and Hood Hinges but I'm questioning if I should waste it on front suspension bushings.

    Clorox wipes on dash are probably overkill. It gets so much sunlight anyway that it isn't harboring bacteria. A weekly/monthly damp microfiber wipe down would save you on cost there.

    I'm not fond of aerosol grease sprays unless there is no other way to get it into a spot. When you spray, so much of what you do NOT see is going into your eyes/lungs and also splattering on nearby surfaces. In most cases, you can apply with a q tip or some cheap paint brushes from harbor freight.

    Other than that, if everyone did what you are doing, most vehicles on the road would last practically forever and look new once traded in.

    -Do not use WD40 anywhere, it's not a lubricant. It's great at washing out other greases and not much else. It's fantastic for cleaning greasy chains before you apply a real lubricant.
    -Ditch the clorox wipes on the dash. Something that harsh will cause issues. Use a proper interior cleaner. I like the Griots line of products, but there are many available.


    WD40 and Duct tape are two of the worst products on the market.

    minor tweaks
    Not a fan of spraying anything on rubber that coats it's surface with a sticky dirt attractant. Especially important boots like CVs, ball joints where there's constant movement and in the case of CVs, some friction.
    I use 303 spray on the all the boots and exposed rubber; ball joints, CV Boots, Steering Bellows, door seals, Hoses (many of the items you are planning to use Lithium grease on). Anything rubber exposed to the elements 1 or 2x a year, it's designed to keep the rubber moist and help prevent cracking or drying out. Lithium sprayed at a component with a protective boot isn't doing anything but coating the boot, no grease is getting into where it would do the most good.
