My brother has a 2019 dodge 4x4 diesel running amp research steps, they are pretty much entirely out of sight when retracted . Which is what I wanted on the Tacoma.

I was assuming that the ones for a Tacoma would be the same . I bought amp research steps and new tires as a gift for someone with a 2017 Barcelona red trd pro .
My question is , did the shop order the wrong amp research steps for the Tacoma ???
The one pic from amp research website shows the step fitting below the VERY bottom painted area for 2016-2018 Tacoma’s, and it seems to sit further back under the truck which is why it is not really visible when retracted .

As you can see the steps on the the trd pro are not mounted the same way , they are mounted higher up which makes them much more fully visible when retracted .

Do I have the correct year /style amp research steps for this trd pro Tacoma ? Or are they for the previous body style Tacoma ?
Or are they the correct amp research steps but mounted wrong ?
    Thanks

The picture you posted from their website, is not a 3rd gen Tacoma. Look at body lines, they are completely different.

yea looks like dodge. hope you don't live in salt state.. customer put them on a Colorado lasted one winter. pivots were corroded and wouldn't come down. also they are hard to work with for warranty.

Just really strange because my brother has had them on multiple vehicles and none of them ever were clearly visible when retracted like they are on this trd pro Tacoma. they all were mounted below the very bottom painted area and further under the truck.
Luckily I live in Southern CA not a salt state cuz I know that can wreak havoc on parts .

I have them on my Offroad this is how they sit... below the door and close to the rocker panel.

Guessing they were full size trucks. Tacoma doesn't have that much room between rocker and frame, both width and depth for them to tuck under.

N8rboy you nailed it.Just /spoke with the installer and he explained that the dodge /ford have more space underneath allowing them to be not visible when retracted however with the Tacoma’s they can’t be installed where they are not seen when retracted .
Kind of a bummer but it is what it is.
    Thanks for the replies /help

Well, look at it this way. Dual propose on Tacoma, steps, plus rocker protection from stone chips. That's a bonus.
