Hello all, I guess I'm getting to the point where I am going to start doing a little to the inside of my 12 Prerunner. There is no question that I like the Katzkin's Leather offerings, but I'm not sure if I want to spend that kind of money.

So, could some of you maybe offer information on what seat covers you know to be of good quality and value? I have big dogs so durability is a factor. Also, does anyone offer firmer better quality molded replacement seat foam?

    Many thanks, Pearson

I used to have clazzio covers in my taco before i got prp's. i have katzkin's in my ram installed from the dealer and while the clazzio's are nice they really don't compare to the katzkin's at all in terms of material quality.

Not many options for molded seat foam. I bit the bullet and went with Toyota. If you replace the foam get the Katzkins and do a full reupholster. You’re going to have to pull the seats, strip the old covers to get to the foam. Added seat heaters while everything was apart.

My clazzio’s started showing fine cracks in the driver’s seat bottom after 2 yrs. I keep them clean and use conditioner on them according to clazzio’s website. I’m disappointed.

An alternative I went with immediately after buying my '21 5 months ago was the offer on Costco.com (if you're a member). They're done by CoverKing at a great price through Costco. I did the fitted neoprene rather than leather and am amazed at the detailed fit. They look and fit like OEM. Maybe worth a look.

Something to think about is how tightly the seat bottom cover fits. I had Clazzios briefly and it bothered me how you could feel the seat bottom cover slide around during hard braking. A very unsettling feeling. It wasn't that the cover was loose or anything, but basically the cover had more grip with my jeans than it did to the OEM seat.. if that makes sense. It wasn't sliding around by more than an inch.. and it was probably just a 0.25 to 0.5 inch shift..still a very odd feeling.

Absolutely worth a look, I guess what I’m trying to communicate in this whole thread is, can you get something to cover the seats that is protective you know for my dogs and cosmetically pleasing at a reasonable or big savings over the cost of having leather installed. Thanks very helpful

Here's a link to Costco's seat cover site. Once you get here, there's an "ORDER" button that will take you off-site to CoverKing and the pricing is all correct for the Costco deals.

    https://www.costco.com/coverking-cu...aterials-to-choose-from.product.11618905.html

I absolutely despise loose and unfitted seat covers and as I mentioned already, these are amazingly fitted for a cover as opposed to a replacement skin. I'm totally happy with the neoprene material, as well. I do have a hammock for my Labrador but I wouldn't worry about him being directly on the seat cover. It's just that his hair vacuums up off this hammock with absolute ease, it's awesome, so that's the way he rolls.

    Here's a couple pics:
The driver's seat shot is after completion. You can see the OEM interior on the passenger's seat, still. The passenger seat shot shows a crease in the cover next to the console. That's from how it was folded in shipping. It came right out after being mounted for an hour. The headrests are even tight and look good.

    One more thing...

I bought the fronts first because I wanted to be positive that I liked how they fit. If you don't like it, it's Costco, so you can take them back to the local store to get a full refund. Try that when going direct with most cover companies. It took about 2 weeks max for my order to show up. I think they were $245 shipped, same for the back seats. After install, I ordered the rears and they came in a couple days sooner. This was all in late Aug, early Sep when shipping and manufacturing delays were rampant.

Does the neoprene not get hot? No butt or back sweat?

I also went with neoprene seat covers. To me they're very comfortable and doesn't have that really cold or hot feeling to the touch. I dive a lot, so I needed something waterproof just in case. My parents have neoprene covers on their toyota's and their dogs hop in and out. I went with Wet Okole, but heard good things about CoverKing.

I purchased wet okele seat covers last year during the group buy. I added the lumbar support and seat/back heaters and love them. The neoprene took about 6 weeks during the summer to loose the heavy neoprene smell. But I never had issues with them being to hot (butt sweat) even now with the heaters turned on.

I love having the neoprene since I fly fish and like being able to change locations if I want to. And it is great now that it's winter, snow, sleet, rain is never an issue with them now.

I have had a zillion of these hammocks between my field dogs and most start off great but shit the bed in no time. Usually zippers and then seams.

I bought this one from Steve at gundogsupply.com and it is the cat's ass....or should that be the Dog's ass? It's a PetSafe but used to be another name that PetSafe bought up. The fabric is super tough but very, very soft and unexpectedly, the hair just sucks right off with an outdoor vac. You don't have to go over and over it. I can't say enough good about it and I just put it through it's first wash and medium heat dry and it's still like new. Only washed cause Stu barfed on it after drinking too much water after a swim session. It's a bit over $100 but quality zippers for seatbelts and leather reinforcements. Getchyaone!

I think Wet Okele started the neoprene revolution. Those look and fit very nice. I like the TRD touch. Wasn't an option on the CoverKings. At least not that I was aware of. I hadn't looked into those. How are they priced?

    Updates to come...
my cousin did this on his '12 and included heated seats - they were amazing on the fit and am considering myself for my own truck. The Costco deal is really good as well (I believe you get the Costco warranty as well?)

I'm gonna do seat heat, as well. It can be done well for just a bit north of $100 for 2 seats. I'm waiting till I can get one Meso's 7 spot center panels so I have room to put OEM style switches on either end once I get rid of the 3rd Gen Qi charger crap that doesn't work. Having seat covers makes it easy for the physical seat install since you can go between the OEM skin and the new cover. When I go to leather, it'll go under the new skins.

Inflatable lumbar support bladders. They dont sit like that anymore lol, they tuck in nicely right next to the seat belt receiver. There are 8" strips of heavy velcro on the inside of the back covers. The air bladder and heating pads also have 6" of velcro, so you are able to position them vertically where ever you prefer them to be. You layer the air bladder on top of the heating pad. Since they each have their own velcro strips, you can position them at different heights if you prefer. ( lumbar lower than heater pad)
