Are fuses just fuses? Worth spending twice as much on name brand fuses?

I have had brand x fuses blow serially. May have been a bad batch. I buy the National brand in bulk.

I bought an assorted box of mini fuses on Amazon and had to throw that Chinese crap out. They didn't fit, as in they were too thin. Would just drop out of the socket. Never again.

Stuff coming out of China isn't all the same. There are levels of quality.

Then...... I think you answered your own question
(Edit: Most Littlefuse automotive blade fuses are from Mexico)

I've used Amazon grade A+ Chinese-ium fuses for years. Some are better than others, but I haven't had issues with them.

I do carry plenty of spares with me though.

Fuses can keep your truck from burning to the ground in the case of a short in your electrical system. I don't think that it's a good place to try and pinch pennies. Just my $.02.

I go out of my way to make sure I get Bussman or littlefuse or any other reputable brand over no name stuff.

Most generic wiring kits I buy, which is rare unless it comes with an LED light or something, I inspect the fuse and if it looks crappy I chuck it and replace with one of my own.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .

Although out of china is more crap than good, for fuses, check the amount of plastic and quality on a Bussman fuse as to that on cheapo's.

Bussman or Littlefuse if I can. I don't trust the Amazon gabrage, I don't have time for that.

Or take a trip down to the U-Pull-N-pay junkyard with a set of needlenose and have at it. (Bonus points to grab a bunch of the diodes that work with the AGM battery voltage boost mod)
