Mmmmm... Martin Logan. I actually got to go to the factory in Lawrence. The had an electro static "wall" that was just a giant speaker. Like 8' high and 12' wide about. Freaking awesome!

Yeah. In all honesty, all they're doing is powering the fronts haha. The rears are basically non existent. It's sounds like it has a Baby sub in there

After doing a bunch of research myself and I went infinity’s. I have them now, they sound great, those specific speakers are meant to also be compatible with an underpowered factory radio, but you can still add an amp if you wanted. I think best bang for your buck and better quality than kicker.

Morel's are going to be leaps and bounds better than the kickers...
I would also consider AudioFrog GS690, which I currently use in my truck.

In terms of determining what speakers will perform without an amp, you need to look at the speaker sensitivity.
You also don't need to go with a 6x9, you can get a baffle made that holds a 6.5 or a 7" driver. That will open up a lot more options, with lower power requirements and a better sensitivity for a stock head unit.

Someone mentioned home audio... A little secret from us car audio nerds. We use home audio gear in the vehicle sometimes. I personally have a home audio tweeter and mid.

I would recommend you take a look at running these for a low budget option

If you don't mind spending some more, this will crush the morel in terms of sound quality. The morel will have more output, but in a door, that isn't necessarily going to help you unless you spend a lot of time with soundproofing and sealing the door.

You're right about sound deadening. Our Morels are crossed-over at 80 Hz and running off clean AudioControl power--we run full sound deadening (inner and outer door skins AND the inside of the panel) with FAST rings and we still get some buzz from the factory plastic. The midbass from those 6x9s is incredible, though.

How is one better quality? You think Kicker makes bad quality products? There are so many different things models that's a big blanket statement no? We all do research too-- I've also owned both brands. I wouldn't say either is better quality. Some models are better than others. Infinity typically cost more too

Just because one company is better quality, the other has to be bad? Let’s not put words in other people’s mouths. I’m aware smart buyers do research, I did mine. I actually got a great deal on my infinity’s that made them the same price as kickers. OP asked for an opinion, I gave him mine. You may agree, you may disagree. Infinity audio quality wins in my book.

I can send you prob 100 mid bass drivers that I would go with before any kicker speaker.
They make a decent sub (L7), and some of their amps aren't bad either.

Most RF speakers have very aggressive tweeters so if you have the subaru tweeters already in then it probably won't sound good and especially so if you amp them. If you are going to amp them then I would get a component set instead or 2 way or 3 way door speakers. because you will have 4 tweeters in the front with possibly two different tweeter cone materials and very different sounds.

I would also recommend Morels either way. I put their 6x9 Maximo Ultra coax in the doors with the subaru tweeters. It works because they morels tweeters are very laid back and do not interfere with the Subaru tweeters. Plus they are a paper composite cone so they move more under stock power than the polypropylene cone speakers. If you get the key or any other amp then find the speakers that have the sound you are looking for.

In my experience the Infinity's are probably the better of the speakers you listed. They sound pretty good under deck and amp power, but I found the Morels and IDs to sound the best to me for how I like my music.

Tweeters are going to have to be kickers, It’s the only aftermarket plug and play option I’ve seen. Everyone says the tweeters are a big upgrade and sound much better, I’ll eventually get them.

Huge difference in sound up front. The stock ones barely make any noise. Such an easy swap

To add, don’t be bitter. Your “research” doesn’t give you perspective into the sound quality of these different drivers. The “blanket” statement that was made is quite accurate. Kicker is not known for sound quality. That’s not argued among those of us that are deep into audio.
