QC Check? Is this legit?

Hey all, was going to wait until after I got my first tacoma to become active on here...until my 23' AC SR5 got help up for a quality control. Truck build date was 9/12.

Here is the email my dealer sent me:

Got updates by Toyota on your truck. It is being delayed due to a quality control check. So pretty much your truck got selected to be gone over to make sure Toyota is building them right! Right now it says it will be held for up to 30 days. Estimated Dealer Arrival: QC Hold on -10/12/2023-UNDER STUDY CHECK BACK EVERY FRIDAY AFTER 12PM -Vehicle delayed for 30 days- ETA unavailable?

Thanks for helping me understand if this is real or not. First impression is distrust haha but wouldn't be opposed if it really is a secondary fine tooth look at the build quality.

 

Something got damaged on the assembly line and they have to fix it, it's in good hands

 

I’d agree… something is wrong or the dealer is trying to cover for not getting it.

 

It has happened to people before.

 

I have read this before, vehicles being pulled randomly for a spot check, or because there is another issue, and they want to see if it's an isolated case. Toyota is probably going to closely guard this info, and not even share with your dealer. If you are unsure, ask your dealer if you can get a screenshot of the coms, or at least see it in person.

 

My 2023 Trd Pro was in QC for 8 weeks.They had an issue with a rear seat mount on one so they pulled them all off if the assembly line.Nothing to worry about.

 

Just got the notification this morning that my Limited was pulled on the 12th. Dealer said minimum 30 days with no further ETA.

 

Maybe it will show up driving straight, without a rear main seal leak and a straight hood for once.

 

Mine was pulled off in Candleridge for a random quality check for about two weeks.

 

It’s stuck in inspection. Downside to ordering a vehicle that is not built in the US .you have two choices sit and wait or cancel the order and find a local vehicle .

 

I have the same build date (9-12), my 23' ORSB is caught up in same QC hold as yours. I questioned my salesmen and he said that all of their incoming Tacoma's are on hold.
Kind of a bummer to have to wait 30 days when my truck arrived at Wilmington on 9-27.

 

Yeah dealer is being legit. It's a thing. Expect a 2-4 week delay, depending on what the QC check/issue is. I wouldn't worry about quality when you do get the truck, toyota does sorta know what they're doing with their own trucks .

I worked at Toyota for a couple years. Seriously, this is somewhat standard. Unlucky, but standard.

 

Mine had a qc hold. Ended up being a piece of weather stripping. Was 1 week delay despite the initial 30 day estimate.

 

Hopefully it will be a short wait and then it can be loaded on the train to Denver.

What they are saying is the truck will get it's QC check when ever they get around to it.

Still on hold as well. But, while it is on "VEHICLE HOLD 10-12-23" the truck has moved from "9-27-23 TRUCK ARRIVE" to "10/17/23 RAIL ARRIVE". Not sure what RAIL ARRIVE means, but the next process is ON TRUCK FOR DELIVERY.

 

Just got the word that it is in Freight/Inspection Status. Still no word on an expected delivery date to the dealer but seems to have moved past the QC inspection.
