I just picked up 2019 Suspension (fox’s), Factory TRD Tires and wheels that were a take off on a TRD Pro 4Runner. I have a 2017 Limited and getting installed on the 23rd. Guys at the shop say they’re fully compatible. I’m just looking for a bit of reassurance or feedback from anyone that’s done this type of upgrade. This is my 1st mod on my truck. I spend a lot of time on 2 tracks and the limited suspension is not very nice out there...

I haven’t done the upgrade, however, I have a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro and I love the suspension! Let me know how it works on the Tacoma.

You will have to change the rear lower shock bushing. The 4R uses a larger diameter bushing.

I would also check the front spring weight. I know the trd pro bilsteins for the 4R had something around 520# springs. I would say you want something closer to 600# or greater...depending on your setup.

I do know that the Tacoma, 4Runner and Tundra Pro models all use exclusive shocks that are not shared with each other.

They are all dialed differently, especially the 4runner due to its multilink rear axle.

The rear shock eyelet is the only big concern. How it drives is beyond my guessing.

The installer mentioned both the larger diameter needed and front being a little softer. So hearing that here gives me confidence. I have a capper and a decked system in the back so truck rides heavy in back already.

thanks, I’ll post after see how it goes.

Good to hear. Sounds like your installer knows what he or she is doing.

They just completely stripped down all TRD parts and made everything bigger on this 4Runner, dudes got $20k at least in upgrades. To the victor go the spoils! (Me,lol).

I thought 4 Runners have coil springs out back.

You are correct but the rear shocks are very similar.

I wish i got the pro when i got this one but i liked the interior of the limited. Didn’t think I’d be going off road as much as i am...

How do you like the 4runner suspension, did you change springs or install as is up front?

I love it. Takes the trails really well, feels like a tank on the road. They installed the rear springs. I have a decked system in back an a cap so the weight was almost the same as the 4Runner in back. Worked out great! Only problem i had is the BT on the 4R wheels didn’t sync up w my pressure gauge in the CPU so my pressure light is on all the time....

The truck felt completely different but in a good way, people always are commenting on it. The clearance is about 3” higher too.
