Putco LED Nite Lux Headlight Bulbs and Sylvania Dome Lights installed! Update: Putco LED Fogs too!

Picked these up from work on Tuesday...



Nice set up, the carbon fiber fins keep the cooling better for dust/dirt I guess. Makes sense since their other LED lights have a fan built into them.

I definitely notice the difference driving, clearer and the reflections off signs are rediculous. Plan in getting their LED Fog lights soon so they match up in clearity, plus you can clearly see the difference visually when you look at them from in front of the vehicle.


Also, today while picking up the wife wiper blades, picked up some Sylvania LED lights for the dome lights from Advance Auto. A whopping $24.

nice clean looking light. i would think about doing this if i didnt just replace both head lights. does anyone have experience driving against LEDs in traffic? are they painfully brighter to oncoming cars?

 

How did you install the rubber boot back onto the headlight assembly?

Not bad, but they are a bit pricey for bulbs.

I bet the discount makes them more appealing.

Did you reinstall the rubber boot? Inquiring minds would like to know.

 

I popped in new LED lights (Dome/map) and I like the cool temp blue color and low amp draw when out doing night photography..

 

I did not.. Was worried about that...

Without the boot on aren't you worried water and dust will get into the headlight housing?

 

Theoretically the bulb's seal to the housing should seal it.. We'll see. Rained last night and didn't have an issue.

 

I frequently wash under my hood and won't want to run without the boot. Do the bulbs come apart (front or back) or maybe you could stretch the rubber over the back.

 

I can try to stretch it or cut a small slit. I saved it for that reason.

 

A little WD40 and warm it with a hair dry I better you could work it over. Prestretch it before you start. Let me know because I'm considering the bulbs.

 

When I originally tried it, I almost started to spread the heat sink so I nixed that right away.

 

Got my LED Foglights in the other day, never got around to posting it, so here we are..

The halogens looks better. No stray light at all. The headlight LEDs don't look too bad but the fogs look like crap. I saw a thread talking about shrouds for LEDs, perhaps something for the fogs would help. Or maybe the camera is capturing what can't be seen with the naked eye.

The interior LEDs however, can't go wrong with those. And those 194s look short enough to fit in the license plate light housing, so you might want to buy another pair if you haven't done so already.

 

Well had a ton of moisture in headlights last few days. Took lights out and drying them now. Realized how open housing is and why it was so wet inside. Didn't have an issue til the last week or two. Had to cut a small slit in boots but stretched around the led and taped around inside to seal slit I cut. Hopefully that resolves this issue.
