Hi Everyone, new to the forum, Tacoma owner since 2015.

About a year ago I did a push start install to my Supra and it works perfect, it has proximity sensors, remote start, push start and a few other features, all for 60 dollars, really something incredible for that price, it just requires patience and the right wiring diagrams to make it work correctly.

I decided I want to do the same to my Tacoma and found the wiring diagram online, but the way i did it on the Supra is I used a turbo timer plug/ harness and cut it so I wouldn't have to cut into the Supra ignition harness.

My question is , is there something similar for the Tacoma so I can plug into the ignition cylinder plug and modify that instead? If not I would just have to tap into the cylinder wiring, no big deal really but a harness would make things a lot easier.

Also if anyone is interested in the install process I can post it here as I go along.

Attached a picture of how it looks on my car.

    Thank you!

    Friendly community I see

I did search but did not find an answer, I don't need the wiring diagram, just a sort of turbo timer plug or part number

I don't have an answer for you, but they're probably waiting on the influx of people who are coming here to talk trash about the push button start and the people coming to argue to defend it. Personally, I love it! I don't think I've seen anyone do the conversion before, so unfortunately I can't give you any direction on it.

Oh, got it. So it seems is more of a hate towards the push start mod for some reason and not me finding the answer I was looking for...

I wasn't sure if it would work but over a year using it in my other car and is probably the best mod i've ever done. You simply walk towards the car, it unlocks, walk away it locks, it works as an alarm and of course the push start works exactly as any newer car, hopefully once I mod my Tacoma I can help those that want to go that route.

I was skeptical of the factory push button start feature on the GFs CRV, but it really is handy.

Are you buying an aftermarket kit that retrofits to push button or piecing it together?

Ive installed a few remote start systems and their websites had wiring diagrams of the starting circuit available, you might try Bulldog or some of the others.

Autozones website has some wiring diagrams you can access if you register. It’s free to register.

Ah thanks, I got the diagram already, the kit is a complete universal kit, no piecing together needed, works as an alarm too. Is very easy to install, just need to splice into the ignition, door lock/unlock wires and horn/lights if you want those to sound when you lock or unlock the vehicle.

The kit I installed in my car has the antennas so it unlocks about 2 feet or so away from the car and locks automatically about 10 ft away so imo is very handy.

Yeah, there's been a lot of debate on that topic, particularly recently. I like each, but it is extremely nice to not have to reach into my pocket at all. I even find myself walking all the way around the truck to touch the handle instead of reaching into my pocket.

I guess is one of those things where you don't see how convinient it is until you own a car that has that feature and experience it daily.

    Kit is: Easyguard EC003N-V

I see, I will make a very simple/detailed instruction on how to do this for those that are on the fence about it. If i could find the harness im looking for it would make things even easier.

I didn’t mean to seem unfriendly. I was just subscribing to the post. I’m always impressed with anyone who could do this type of work. I have a background in industrial electricity/electronics but automotive electrical systems is a whole different animal. Forgive me if I wasn’t friendly. Lol I will help if I can.

Lol is cool, I also have a background in electronics, I basically deal with similar work for a living, so this mod is really not that complicated, with the right info anyone can get it done in an hour or two. If i manage to find a part that fits the male ignition plug this install will almost be completelly plug and play.

Awesome that is one feature I miss on my truck after selling the Denali. Doors locked and unlocked on their own. The push button start I enjoyed but not as much.

I find this interesting. Can it be done on a 2010?

Just want to say welcome to the forum. For the most part it is a friendly community, but it helps to have a little thick skin sometimes .

Lots of very helpful information stored here too, did you try Google searching Tacoma world for the threads on this subject?
