I have a 3.4l 99 Tacoma the check engine like comes on about every 100 miles for the code p0446. This website has let me to believe the most common cause is the vacuum purge solenoid but my problem is I can't find one to match the serial numbers of the one I have.
It's 258-75160 and 101362-1520 I've looked these up and it brings me to something that looks exactly like it but with different numbers, I'm hoping someone here can point me in the direction of the correct part.

Numbers often change the older a vehicle gets. It's called a 'superseded number'. Doesn't mean the part isn't the right one.

Calling the parts guy at a dealer, give him your current numbers, ask for a price and then ask if there is a new number.

Clearwater bill is correct, number has superseded. I once bought a part for my 2001 tacoma and number had been superseded 5 times but part was still correct.

Make sure you get the correct one. Yours should be #1 from the purge valves shown below. #2 is for 2001+ models

    #1 part number 2586075140

This info isn't accurate. I have a '99 V6 as well and mine uses the 25860 - 75160 as shown in the second photo. Toyota parts counter guy can help if you give the VIN.

Interesting. I was going off of this post
When I checked the toyotaparts website I got this:

    upload_2022-4-10_13-55-55.jpg

I just figured that's how it was for the pre-2001 models. Mines is an 02' and uses the solenoid on the 2nd picture

I'm on this project as well. My short answer is that sadly some suppliers are lazy with their information. And the terms referring to parts in the aftermarket are influenced by what people know them as. This is for the sake of making them easier to find. In this case, this is one where the part names and numbers are closely related and communication as to which is which is unclear. I say this because my 99 Taco Prerunner uses both styles pictured above. And no, one doesn't replace the other. That would require adapter hoses which are nowhere to be found as far as I'm seeing, and the only thing I've heard of like that was the 2002 Sequoia front break caliper retrofit which took an angle grinder to get in.

I'm resorting to narrowing down the parts by number, and verifying the accuracy by picture.

For me the code ended up being my charcoal canister, it was cracked along the bottom. I did a quick epoxy job and it passed smog.

Right right, it really was a life saver lol. I'll get a new charcoal canister eventually but it works for now.

And that's exactly one of my issues. And for others who might come across this thread, his is a common problem. Cracks along the bottom lower edge. One was hard to see, but another was obvious. I painted the entire bottom boarder with epoxy, he he.
