I was getting tired of hoisting the kids into the back of the recently acquired 2nd Gen double cab, so as usual I agonized over a million products before finally settling on these Lund nerf bars.

Bought them from RealTruck.com. Customer service from the site was excellent. Shipping took a while, but it's also the Christmas rush.

Everything in the box was packed well w/no damage.

Installation was ridiculously easy. Waited for a dry day and had no problem getting to the rocker panels laying on my back in the driveway. Each bar sits on three thick brackets that have location labels stamped into the metal. Each bracket secures to the rocker panel (remove plastic plugs) with two bolts, and then to the bars with two more bolts. Lightly hand tightened the bolts per the directions and torqued them down once everything was in place correctly. All the parts fit well.

Functionality is exactly what I was looking for. Wanted a reasonably low step for the wife and kids while maintaining decent clearance height. I also wanted protection from other vehicles and their doors in parking lots. The bars sit in just the right spot. I do kind of wish the step pads extended further towards the middle of the vehicle for down the road when I'm getting stuff off a sports rack but I'm being picky.

Style and aesthetics-wise, love the way these look. Bars have a glossy black finish which I prefer to matte. I also like the way they turn in slightly at the end, just looks right.

Value -- I paid about $180 (free shipping) based on a deep seasonal discount, and sent in a $50 rebate. Best deal I could find.

There you have it. If you're looking to buy these feel free to send questions my way. A few mediocre photos:

I really like those a lot.

I'm thinking of doing something very similar with my truck.

Trying to decide which finish to go with, however the shiny black like yours looks super. I also like the way those turn in at the ends.

    Great looking truck !

Thanks! I'd think the glossy black finish would go best with your glossy black paint, but there's no better opinion than your own when it comes to these things. I think some people like the matte finish if they don't want the presence of the bars to be accentuated. The chrome finish was going to look weird on mine given the silver paint.

Good luck with yours, post some pics once you decide!

    Thanks, man.

Gonna head to a couple shops in the area and look at various models they have in stock....and possibly on employee vehicles.

I'm 95% certain that I'm going with the shiny black.

Also, just saw your emblem. Thank you for your service. Much respect.

First Christmas in a long, long time that I didn't drive through Jacksonville on my way to visit family.
