I tried to do as much research about this setup before I pulled the trigger, but I wasn’t able find much. I was concerned about rubbing. I went ahead with this setup and I wanted to share with anyone else considering something similar.

Wheels: Pro Comp Series 69, 17x9, -6mm offset, 4.75” backspace

    Tires: Falken Wildpeak AT3W, 265/70/17

Straight from the tire shop I didn’t notice any rubbing. The next day I took the truck out on some forestry roads and noticed rubbing going over washouts at speed. Over the next several days I noticed specific circumstances when it would rub: full lock going over 10 mph, full lock in reverse. As I anticipated, the rub was happening on the front mudflap.

You can see here how close the tire was when the wheel was just barely turned.

I removed the mud flaps and that solved 90% of the rub. I’ve only noticed it now when I have passengers in the truck. I’m going to use a heat gun and push the plastic fender liner back, and then get some XL Rokblokz mud flaps. The -6mm offset puts the tires just outside the body, so I need to get wider mud flaps to cover that up.

Not a great photo, but you can see that the offset puts the tires just outside the fender.

Hard to see the offset here, but wanted to show multiple angles of the offset and the new stance.

Overall I’m really pleased with the setup. The tires are great off-road and quiet on the interstate. I really like the stance and the look of the vintage style wheels.

Also gotta give a shoutout to Softopper. Prior to purchasing my topper I searched forever and could only find two photos of a cavalry blue Tacoma with a tan Softopper. Hopefully someone out there is looking and they see this thread.

What lug nuts did you use with this wheel? did you need to buy a pro comp set to replace the stock? I have these wheels in my cart and have been trying to figure out if I need to add aftermarket lugs. Thanks!

You’ll need tuner lug nuts for these wheels. I got a set, plus an adapter for about $50. That seems to be a pretty standard rate.

Make sure you get the adapter too. If you do your own maintenance you’ll need it to rotate your tires, and some dealerships and lube shops won’t have the tuner lug adapter.

Good luck! I really like the wheels and have absolutely no complaints so far.

    Wildpeaks 265/75/16
    Pro comp 69 -12 offset, 4.5 backspacing

cleared calipers but I did just notice some sort of running today when flexed. Will report once I find out what it is

I have same setup and had to remove mudflaps as well. Get some rub still but very rare.

I just have the rubbing at full lock on the bumper. Nothing on the caliper.
