Just a buyer beware when buying Pro Comp alloy rims!!!! That the center caps installed with rims will not let your lug nuts fully grab the threads on the studs do to the design of the high ridge on the front hub and the rear drums of the 2016 Tacoma. I had to install without the center caps so keep in mind when thinking of purchasing Pro Comp alloy rims. I will upload photos later tonight when I get home.

I just looked at the 89 series rims on Pro Comp's website and they are identical center caps that I have on my rims. I found reviews where others had to go with a different brand and style center cap to work. Me personally I just pulled the wheels and painted the front and back hubs with Rust-Oleum 2x flat black that has the primer included in the paint.

Here is what the back hub looks like with the ridge. The front is the same so that is why the cap won't work. It pushes the rim out and you only get two turns with the lug nuts. First two pictures are the rear. The second pictures are the front.

Humm... guess I'm not understanding how the cap would not let the lugs grab enough thread. Looks like the cap just pops on after the wheels have been installed and the lugs have been tightened.

The cap slide in from behind the rim and the ridge on the back of the cap rides on the round ridge on the hub and makes rim not to sit seated flush to the hub or rear brake drum. So that is why you only get two turns on the threads with the lug nuts. You have to install longer studs which is going to cost you $$$ in labor and parts. The factory studs are not long enough and if Pro Comp had designed all their rims with a outer bolt on cap customers would not have this problem.

It's not a big deal for me, but some might be discourage. It would bug them not having a perfect set of wheels on their ride.

Looks like the hub bore is not large enough for the caps to fit over the hub.

Correct! I think you would have to take your rims to a machine shop have them bore d out wider diameter and the caps would still would not sit right in the space. They would have to re-manufactured to the correct diameter.

That is what happens when a new model comes out and the aftermarket world is not up to par with that model. Like I said it does not bother me not having the caps, others it might. I'm just making people aware this issue if the are in the market of buying certain Pro Comp rims. Besides I live out in the middle of nowhere and my only options is the internet.

I really don't know if they are aware of the issue or they are so big that they probably only care about the $$$$$$$!

Try some ET(Extended Thread) Lug nuts, or put some longer studs in. Either way, its easier than having the rim machined.
