First of all Happy New Year to you all.
Recently bought the Prinsu CabRack from Thanksgiving sale. Love the look and then add a LED light Bar on it but I really can't stand the wind noise...
So here I created a clear Plexiglass wind guard extension to cover up the LED bar. Now I can do 80+ on the freeway with no noise!

    Here's the materials you need:
    1. 1/8" Plexiglass from Orchard Supply 48" x 24" (Ask the folks at the store to cut that for you, because it is almost impossible to cut a straight line at home without the right tools...Yes I tried that and learn from the bad lesson-- Cut it into 47" x 11" or 12", depending on your LED light bar) around $39
    2. Thin Weather strip seal - you can get it from Lowes or Orchard or Home depot $8
    3. Heat gun

    Steps:
    1. Use your original windguard from Prinsu as a template to guidet and drill the hole on the Plexiglass.
    2. The original windguard require to use two washer. If you don't want to buy the longer screw then I suggest to remove one of your original washer so you can use the original screws from Prinsu.
    3. I strongly recommend to put the weather strip seal on both side of the clear windguard, because that can reduce any noise from the gap.
    4. Use the heat gun to heat up evenly on the Plexiglass, and then bending it to the right angle to fit your LED Bar.
    5. Now test fit it, and screw everything back on.

Hope that can help some of you guys like me that hate the wind noise :)

Looks pretty good. Hopefully it will do well against uv and road debris.

Plexiglass will yellow and turn brittle. I'd recommend some Lexan/polycarbonate instead. You can get it from Laird Plastics, or any specialty plastic shop.

Acrylic might work as well, might be easier to form to shape and cut. Some companies use it for the same thing I use polycarbonate for, but our processes are different, and I don't have any experience with it nor know it's UV ratings

I use a brand called Makrolon for yacht windows. It's 60mil, 1/16th inch I think. Comes with a special UV coating and scratch resistant. I don't know if it comes any thicker as that might be too thin for what you're doing

Thanks for the info! Yes that's one thing I'm worrying about but had no clue where to get something UV protect. I will reach out to Laird Plastic tomorrow. Thanks :)

    Hey I appreciate that!

you have a mold now so ver 2.0 will be easier for you. You could add a vinyl wrap or tint on the underside to be a little different as well.

Cool mod.I thought about clear lexan but was worried about dirt/water/crap getting caught on the underside preventing light output.
Doesn't yours bubble Over the light and seal to the first cross bar?

It's seal from the top but not from the bottom, If it is require for cleaning then I would just remove the Front beam which holding the Prinsu Windguard all together for wipe it clean.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
So you bent that plexus with a heat gun! Nice I couldn’t tell from the pics what I was looking at. This is slick bro!

Love it! I made one for my 4Runner a few years ago but did not think of bending it. Well I did but curved the front to match my curved light bar. In three years it has gotten
pretty dirty so it's time to replace it. I used 1/4" though. I might have to do something like your design. BTW even strait it eliminates almost all wind noise.

My next one I plan on making it easily removable with thumb screws. That way it can be taken off when you are off-roading and replaced when you hit the highway.

    None as of yet
    looks good.
kinda in reference to some earlier posts.
Plexiglass is a brand of acrylic. It is often UV stabilized and could hold up pretty well outdoors. Polycarb may also be a alternative. more impact resistant againt rocks but scratches easier. Quite literally think aquarium tanks vs safety glasses.

Yes you are absolutely right. That's why I put wax and buff the inside as much as I could to prevent dirt and water marks. But still have to remove it every two months to wipe it clean. However it is worth it IMO because it is much more quieter than without it.
