Thinking about upgrading my roof rack on my cab and shell to a Prinsu.

Anyone have experience with how well the Prinsu rack works with surfboards?
What is the setup you're using to pad the rails and secure the boards?
Does the shell rack get in the way of securing longer boards?

Currently I have a OEM roof rack on my cab with no shell and my largest board is a 9'10"

    Hi Shardima!

I noticed there are no replies so maybe this will get it going again as I have similar questions. Right now, I have no roof rack, but have Thule crossbars mounted to the doors. I also use a Yakima Showdown for my sups.

I want to mod my new truck and will start with a roof rack to attach beach gear like a “changing room”, Waterport shower and the Yakima showdown. I’m wondering if the showdown will fit on the Prinsu crossbars.

If you get a board-bag you can safely strap it down onto anything metal

How do you currently mount it to the bars? I would assume it would be very similar to the prinsu. You can mount anything to the prinsu with a little creativity when mounting to the t slot bars.

I greatly appreciate all of your feedback so thank you. I sup surf a lot (as well as “regular” surfing) and usually it’s very windy and lifting up a sup in the wind can be challenging. The Yakima showdown lowers and allows me to mount a sup lower, outside main wind channels. I just needed to make sure the Yakima Showdown could attach to the Prinsu bars.

Since posting my initial inquiry, I have done measurements and think I’ll be good to go.

    Appreciate all the feedback!

Yakima makes TSLOT adapters for their own TSLOT bars but their description says they work for traditional TSLOT bars so I’m pretty sure they will work on the prinsu. I’m looking to do the same for some Yakima Fatcat’s that I have.

I'm also looking at getting a Prinsu for about my A.R.E. truck topper and having surfboards on top. Are there any pads that work well with the Prinsu crossbars? I would also love to see pics.

Most surf pads will work. I use a pair on Enchinta pads from the shop just stretch them out and time them down.

Most of my boards are short enough to fit inside my camper though. But that’s my 9ft log on my ram prinsu
