Hoping to get some feedback from people who have the Prinsu access cab rack installed.

I’ve got a 2018 OR with a hi liner sport snugtop and really want to get a rack on the roof of the cab. Prinsu seems like the only option but I’m nervous about drilling into the roof. I would take it to a shop to do it for me if one exist in SoCal.

But for the people here that have it, how has it been? Are they on sturdy once installed? Any problems or horror stories of people with this rack? How does it fit around the shark fin? Any photos to share?

Other side question, is it possible as a different option to get the clip on racks that go around the door frame and install a basket instead of a cross bars?

I’d really like something that’ll balance out the height from the shell and of course allow me to store shit up top

It's extremely easy with a friend if you want to DIY.

    1. Be sober
    2. Measure twice maybe even 3 times
    3. Use a punch to prevent bit wandering
    4. Use a step bit for control
    5. Clean out all the shavings and paint the holes
    6. Use marine grade boat silicone sealant.

Ive had mine on for over a year and have no horror stories to report.

There is a special cross bar specifically for shark fin, should be an option on site.

Nah just a tarp from the hardware store and wooden dowels that I shaved down to fit in the eyelets. Just recently bought some adjustable tent poles which is way nicer because they fold down. My last trip I tied the corners to the wheels like the slumberjacks and it was nice because I could open and close the snugtop window. This photo the tarp is zip tied to the window so we had to break it down sleep.

I don’t know if I would spend the money on a slumber jack since a tarp is more functional for a variety of uses and configurations, such as this setup the next morning when the sun was behind us and low

Is there any reason not to go with one of these prinsu or victory 4x4 racks?

The Prinsu is very strong (we put our RTT on it), and it will match up well with your shell. The top of the rack is just a bit higher than the shark fin so it clears anything you put on top, but you may need to turn the last 2” bar sideways to clear it or get a 1” to clear it. No big deal, I use mine to mount my antennas to it.

The only reason NOT to install a roof rack on an Access Cab is if you are worried about drilling holes. But if you are careful and use good quality RTV you should never have a problem.

Great I think I’m going to go with the victory and have a shop install it. I assuming using a good RTV is what’s gonna make sure water doesn’t get in? As well as making it stays locked in as well? If you ever decide to remove it would you when seal up the fasteners that are installed with rtv and then throw a new rubber stripping back in there?

Edit: also curious about how one would use the victory rack to put pelican cases, bags, coolers stuff like that up there? Would you just strap it down to the rack or are there sidewalks and nets available?

Yes, the RTV seals the brackets against the roof and seals the bolts in the nutserts. If you ever pull it, yes just reseal.

You can either drill and bolt stuff through the bottoms of the cases with T-nuts in the rails, or you will have to strap the stuff down.
