I ordered a Prinsu Access Cab rack and although I believe it's going to be quite sturdy. They don't actually give a weight rating. Does anyone have an idea what that might be?

They don't give one likely because they haven't gone through official testing and liability reasons. Regardless, you don't want that much weight up top while driving down the road as it'll make you super top heavy. With that said, I'd say you could put 150-200 lbs up there.

    Hmm.

I made this rack for myself (am welder) a while back, and I also have a rear 'hoop' that enables me to carry long things (12 and 16 foot lumber and lengths of metal). I've definitely thrown 500 pounds on it without feeling anything in driving dynamics. I was hoping I could fab up a receiver hitch 'post' that would come up level to the prinsu rack so I could still carry long goods, but wouldn't have to deal with the downsides of the rack I made (mainly lots of noise and noticeably reduced gas mileage).

You put 500 lbs above the roof line and didn't notice any ill effect? You must drive like a super grandma! Impressive.

I don't know if I should be insulted or not.

I've totaled a few faster cars in my day. I don't drive like that anymore. I drive a truck now.

Haha not an insult, hope it's not taken that way. I just don't know how you couldn't notice a difference. When I had 170 lbs on the roof of my camper shell, I could very easily notice a difference.

Anyone else have any idea what a good capacity to keep in mind is for the prinsu?

Are you looking for info about how much weight to put up in the CabRack while driving, or how much can it hold parking with a RTT full of people? I Have a doublecab, but think you would be fine with yours loaded with a couple hundred max for driving, but it could hold a lot more if just parked. I have about 500+lbs on my Prinsu when parked for camping (weight of the RTT + me and my family of 3 + dog + gear).

Cool. I was more wondering about driving load. No RTT for me. I’m looking at off road trailers. Thanks for the help. I think I’ll be good for what I’m planning to carry, load-wise.

Could you please post photos of you cab mount RTT? I am considering doing the same as I have a diamond back bedcover and do not wish to add bed bars.

I stood on my top rack assembled on the ground and bent one of the side mounting plates. I’m also 200 shameful pounds of squishy. The knock off 80/20 holds up though, that extruded aluminum is ultra strong.
