    Hey guys,

I am very interested in this truck but am unsure if the price is a bit steep. It has everything I am looking for: manual, 4X4, xtra cab, canopy, excellent condition and not too high on miles. Any advice is very much appreciated! Thanks!

For me personally I'd say that's too high. Not sure how prices are around you, but that's a 4-5k truck tops around my area. Granted those trucks around me arent usually that clean. I've also heard (don't know how true it is) that the 3.0 is better off as a boat anchor than an engine. Apparently not one of Toyotas finest. As I said, not sure how true that is. Just what I've been told. It is a very clean looking truck though, so its got that going for it for sure.

As A college man I have to admit to spending countless hours on craigslist. Thats way to high of a price, never have I seen one even close. You could try KBB and see what they value it at and use that info to argue with the owner. also curious why you want it, off road build? first car?

Honestly, if you can, get a Tacoma. Similar pricing and you'll probably be working on it a whole lot less than one of those pre-taco trucks. I'd be willing to bet a 4 cylinder Tacoma is faster than a 3.0 pickup.

You never really know what you have until you buy one. Then you see its true colors. I got into the Tacoma thinking the same as you. Super reliable, never work on it blah blah blah. Then you join a forum and learn about all the little issues they have. Granted they're great trucks, in my opinion one of the best reliability wise, but they all have their issues. The 3rz has the valve clearance tolerances that you have to monitor (I had no idea about this when I bought mine). The famous bad carrier bearing is another common issue. Steering rack bushings are another. The older ones like to crack manifolds, a lot of them have vibrations over 45mph. Just stuff like that. Just be mindful if you get one, they're good trucks but you have to check for all the little issues they may or may not have.

Thanks for your comments, guys. This is my first truck and am pretty clueless. I appreciate it :)

One can never have too many light bars.
That looks extremely clean. No harm in offering a price your comfortable with. Worst thing that happens is they say no.

Do yourself a favor and get a 96 or newer so you can get the 3.4. I had a chance to buy a 1991 SR5, 4x4, extra cab last year with 67,000 miles for $8000. I was tempted and probably should have but most Tacoma guys don't like the 3.0. They were known to have bad head gaskets and serious lack of power.

May I ask what you would offer them? I was thinking a grand less-7000. Also saying that Kbb and edmunds online's values for the car weren't at all the asking price.

I would offer 6K flat and see what they counter and walk away at a dollar over 7K.

You can always flip the shell for some cash after the purchase, if you don't intend to use it.

Personally I like the 22re manual over the v6 in the pickups. 1994 is a good year though, last full production year of those trucks.
