I need to replace both front lower ball joints. The passenger side one, in particular, is crying out in pain whenever I slow down or turn. I purchased a set of Moog ball joints and went to the mechanic to get an estimate for labor only and was quoted $327. Is that a reasonable price?

Google searches provide too much of a wide range in pricing. Is there a website that provides basically the same info as the software system most mechanics use to determine the hours of labor for a particular job?

Yeah alot of the smaller shops use the same software. Everyone seems to want $110 /hr. Id rather do it myself. Save the money. Great videos online and rent tools from the parts store.

Yeah, if doing the install myself were an option, I'd certainly do it.

At $110 per hour, the shop is estimating 3 hours to install two ball joints. With the right tools and experience, it seems like they can get it done in at least half that time. Of course, I can be wrong about that, but that's why I want to get access to their software, if possible. I want to know who could be potentially cheating me -- is it the software or the shop?

Shopped around and paid $192 for labor to replace the lower ball joints. A good price to pay for peace of mind.
