Are there any super sexy locking mechanisms for light bars outside of jb weld? I'd hate for some hoodlum to make off with my light bar while i am down town...

    Ah.

Security bolts..... But all it takes is an angle grinder or sawzall.

Meh.... There's only so much u can do, people are stealing the cats and gas from yotas..... Lightbars are prolly no challenge to them.

That said, I had my set of light forces on the truck for 4yrs with no issues.

I've seen people come out to chunks of their steel light bars missing due to others using a sawzall or pipe cutter to remove the entire hoop with lights attached.

I think welding bolts is a bit excessive and a pita when u want or need to remove them for any reason.

Wouldn't insurance cover theft of parts? Or is it one of those "only if you can prove it was on there" things?

Bumping this thread for other ideas.
I have a 20" bar sitting at home ready to be installed on my relentless front bumper and I'm trying to figure out how to secure it.
I thought about Welding the nut and bolt but it'd be a PITA to aim like that, so now I'm thinking of welding little covers over the mount points that I can use a certain wrench to get to the nuts inside.

^^^ What he said. There's only so much you can do. If they really want it they can get it no matter what. Security bolts seem to be the most common thing to use.

Being someone who works in a body shop, anything you use to prevent theft has an answer to. Or else how would I be able to work on your car if you had your tamper proof torx or wheel locks without the key in the car? Every single "Joe schmoe theft prevention" will have a way to get removed in any average body techs toolbox and most of them you can buy from matco and snap on easily.

Just have to make your vehicle is harder to get something stolen off of than the next.

When I install mine I have done of these type screws and bolts from work to secure the lights. Like others have said, they're not going to stop a determined thief but hopefully they'll slow them down or dissuade them from spending time on mine when there are easier targets out there.

Home Depot sells lefty bolts. They tighten to the left and loosen to the right. Opposite of normal. Could at least throw somebody off. That plus thread locker. The best case scenario they spend time cranking down the bolts for you.
