Alright guys I think the time has finally come!!! I’ve heard from some that I need to do a lot of fluid changes and Lower ball joints and things like that. Is that all I need to do, or is there more to it?

I'd definitely agree that you should get up to date on regular maintenance items before diving into "optional" stuff like a lift. If you're talking about installing some preventive measures in advance, this thread might be helpful:

I got my CV axles re-booted and replaced the front differential needle bearing with an ECGS bushing before getting my lift installed. Not sure if those components cause trouble for 1st gen trucks, though.

Before I even thought of a lift I did maintenance like timing belt/water pump job with all accessories and full valve cover gasket job. During or before the lift install I also did front and rear diff fluid, T-case fluid, Lower Ball Joints, Upper ball joints (or UCA if it's in the budget), inner/outer Tie Rods, ECGS bushing. It's a bit of a list but makes for more peace of mind.

Didn't go as in depth last time we talked but since were on the subject; all the fluids as mentioned. Add crush washers and such as needed for your drain and fill plugs; I can text you the part numbers sometime just remind me. If you've got an automatic, you can add a transmission filter as part of your recommended maintenance.

Check other items such as your transmission mount and carrier bearing as well, and get yourself a grease gun so you can lubricate all components as needed! I need to do the last part myself :anonymous:
