    I have a 2013 4cyl prerunner access cab
It has 18K miles on it with a TRD exhaust which of course is post cat and should have no effect on emissions ( No Intake or engine mods)
My truck had a nice deep tone down low with the TRD exhaust. A few days ago the exhaust went silent completely like stock. Then the next day it started making a weird rattling sound at low rpm load. I suspected a loose heat shield at this point. It then the next day had almost no engine power and made a very loud crazy noise under acceleration which felt like 1/3 of normal power. Well I climbed under the truck banging and knocking on everything trying to find the rattle. The rear cat was the culprit. Toyota replace both cats under warranty and found a nail in my right front tire by the sidewall which was also under road hazard warranty since I purchased the tires from them. So one day in the shop and it was all fixed N/C

The service advisor and techs never explained why they thought the catalytic converter went bad so fast. I'm guessing a manufacturing defect since the truck was running fine up to that point and never had a check engine light or code thrown.
    WEIRD?????

in my truck I hear like a ggguuursh soun down in the passenger seat when I'm under load, I don't know if that's an indication of a bad cat

Looks like your cat got real hot as well with all that blueing towards the front. The dealer didn't give you anything?

Cat converters are covered under EPA regs for five years, if it goes within five years it is covered, no question !

It's not new, it's not Mexico
My Cat crapped out around 45K miles. At first I had a rattle I couldn't' trace, then the check engine light came on with the Cat failure code. It was replace under warranty. I asked the service writer why it failed so soon, he just gave me the old "sometimes they go".

My catalytic converter went out at 130,235 kms. Warranty was covered until 130,000 kms. Their reasoning behind my warranty denial was I did not take it back to the dealer for regular servicing. Lack of records.......

I have the worlds worst Toyota Tacoma ever built.
