Pre-purchase inspection - what to look at?

Hey folks, a newbie here

It's ~200k miles and the Carfax report checks out on that. What else should I look at closer on this vehicle?

Definitely check where it has spent it’s life. Check when timing belt was last done.

 

Take it to a mechanic and have them put it on a lift and do a pre-purchase check. It will cost about 1 hour labor, and save you tons of time and money. Not just deciding to buy or not buy; helps in negotiating price when you can factor in cost for necessary repairs and maintenance.

All around good advice, thanks guys! I'll look for very obvious frame damage and if all looks good, I'll go ahead with the inspection.

 

Just like buying a horse start at the feet and work up.

Then road test 4 high 4 low full range of movement in the steering.

Some areas are always neglected .What is important to you a super clean body and interior ?

New to some sellers means in the last 50,000 miles.

Don`t put your faith in Car-Fax in this area none of the local shops turn in data to them.

Looks like it's been kept in CA so I'm optimistic about the frame condition. The service reports are close enough to each other for the mileage to seem legit, wouldn't you agree?
