2018 Off Road, bought new and now has 3100 miles. I replaced the grille with a pro and garnish on the first day. This morning when I started the truck I saw "Pre-Collision System Malfunction - See Dealer", "Check Brake System" and "Check Anti-lock Brake System" warnings.

I checked the connections and cleaned the garnish but no change.

I'm wondering if they are going to say the pro grille is to blame and try to make me pay?

    Your thoughts?

This may help. I think there is a period of time that your computer needs to adjust. I don't have TSS myself, so I can't speak from experience.

Have had mine installed since March with no issues at all. I did remove battery ground when installing as suggested by others to reset the radar.
Not one issue except in heavy rain.

The system needs re-calibrated at Toyota. If you installed the Pro Grille you have moved the sensor down about 4 or 5 inches. The system may seem to work fine. But when you really need it in an accident, are you 100% sure it is working correctly.

Am I 100% sure it is working? No, ...but I am sure that it went 3000 miles and 5 months without giving any indication it wasn't working. It seems odd that it wouldn't have acted up sooner than this. I'm thinking something must have changed or malfunctioned. Thanks for the input.

Yes they will. Even if the problem is not caused by the grille its going to be on you as you modded it.

I thought they had to prove that the mod caused the issue though. Being Toyota parts, I can't see how they could, although I wouldn't doubt they might try to blame it on that.

I think the problem is you put a TRD Pro grill on a non-TRD Pro truck...

May sound dumb but, did you plug the sensor on the grill back in? I had that happen and forgot to plug it back in..

Sketchy logic though. They're all Tacomas with the same frames and body parts, and mechanicals for the most part. Again, I don't doubt they will try though.

You modified a critical part of the system. Meaning, you changed the mounting platform. Yes, it is a Toyota part, but it did not come from the factory that way.
Toyota does not "try" to get out of paying warranty claims. They happily pay if it is something they did wrong or had a defective part. They also have a set of rules. Good luck I hope you get it resolved. Trying to figure out if its their problem or your problem is a gray area. My point is, if you were still stock and had this issue then there would be no question. You modding it, even if the mod is not the issue, creates that gray area.

Yeah, I bet that's going to be tough to point the blame away from the grill. As I've looked into getting a BSM compatible aftermarket rear bumper, I've come to the realization that those "sensing" parts are highly calibrated and very sensitive--no pun (which is why you see subpar performance with some of those supposedly BSM friendly bumpers). Having Toyota calibrate is not cheap, either. Expensive equipment and few tech hours.

I'd just move to an SR grill. It looks better than the Pro anyway. :D

I turned on my car without my TSS sensor plugged in and I got the same messages. After it was plugged back in and the truck was restarted, the errors went away. It looks like your car is having trouble communicating with the sensor.

I would pull it apart, unplug all the connections and verify all the pins in the connectors are good (not bent, oily, etc.). After that, re connect everything and make sure the latch closes on all the connectors. Give each connection a tug to make sure its latched.

LOL pulling this old gem out .

doesn't apply here, especially to sensors which require specific orientation, calibration and specific
types of materials to pass through for the sensor to work

OP needs to eat this one or remedy on his own

he messed with some sensors, sensors now out of whack
